Closest Bed Bath and Beyond to campus

I am trying to figure out which BBB is the best one to pick up my son’s bedding and dorm necessities at. We are flying into Birmingham the day before move in and will have to stop at a BBB and pick everything up that I pre-order. There are 3 stores that come up either in or near Birmingham when I do a search but I don’t know which is the most convenient one to stop at on the way to Tuscaloosa. Does anyone know which would be the most convenient to have everything shipped?

There’s not really any significant difference in distance from Tuscaloosa among any of them; the spread in travel time is 20 minutes at most. Ostensibly, the BBB in Hoover (1771 Montgomery Highway) is the closest, followed by the one at the Summit (313 Summit Boulevard) and then the one in Trussville (1640 Gadsden Highway). Ironically, the one in Trussville is actually closest to the airport.

If you’re going to be flying into B’ham airport, I would go to the one at The Summit. It’s not hard to get to from the airport, and you get to go the The Summit (which is worth the trip!)

There’s some good places to eat there, too…

Just checked, from the B’ham airport, the BBB at The Summit is the closest at 6.8 miles.

But you gotta use 280 to get to that BBB directly from the airport - blech!

OK - thanks everyone - this forum is great!

The BBB in Hoover is located less than a mile from I-459 which will take you directly to Bessemer/I-59 and then to Tuscaloosa. A lot easier to get in and out of than the hwy.280 store and more “on your way.” Across the street is the Galleria mall and there is a WalMart and Super Target close by as well.

We picked Hoover to be our home base for shopping before heading down to T-town. Thanks for the confirmation that we made a good choice. What is the mall like? Pottery Barn?

Feeno…I don’t think the 280 is bad at all. Are you talking about during morning rush hour?

Sniner…the Riverchase Galleria is a very large typical mall that has basically all the stores you’d normally find…but I don’t think it has a PBarn.
The Pottery Barn is at The Summit, which is linked in post #3

No, unfortunately the only Pottery Barn is located at the Summit. About a 20-30 minute drive from Hoover depending on traffic, so it’s not too far. There is a Pier One and a Kirkland’s directly behind the BBB. The Galleria is mostly clothing stores, food court, etc. There is another shopping area called Patton Creek behind the Galleria that has several nice restaurants, a Panera bread, Costco, sporting goods store, movie theatre, Barnes&Noble, etc.

Everytime I’ve used 280 it’s been bad, but then I’ve stopped using 280, so maybe it’s only good when I’m not on it. :)

We always stay at the SpringHill Suites right down the street from the Summit. We LOVE this area. Great places to eat and wonderful shopping. For new Freshman parents of girls…check out the PINK store for a great selection of Bama themed girl wear.

I never found driving to T-town from here very difficult. Never had much traffic to deal with and we have done the drive from the hotel to school about 7 or 8 times now. Keep in mind that we are from Chicago so I guess it is relative.

SpringHill is new and very clean with great customer service if anyone is looking for a place to stay. Nice and cheap too w/ a free breakfast.
