Closest Supermarket?

I'm moving into Hayden Hall on July 1st.
I'm planning to buy beddings and some essentials in a nearby supermarket...
I saw on Google Map that Walmart is quite far.
Where do you suggest?

Are there any other suggestions about my first-day at NYU;) I'm an international freshman from China.
Are there any typical DOs and DONTs?

There are Duane Wade’s everywhere and lots of small family-owned grocers. It’s like Sesame Street!

Duane Reade is a drugstore, although it does sell some food. The closest place to campus to buy bedding and houseware essentials would be K Mart at Broadway and 9th or 10th street. Or go to Bed Bath and Beyond further uptown. For food, explore Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods on 14th Street.

These are all very close…also, I believe that NYU runs shuttle buses to some stores during Welcome Week.

There’s a supermarket a block away from Tisch Hall, I forget the name (I think it’s Greek?).

KMart is at Astor Place a block east of Broadway. Gristede’s is the closest supermarket at University and 8th St. When you get to school your RA and other staff will be able to help you find things. They do run shuttles to Bed Bath and Beyond. You will not be alone in needing to buy supplies for your dorm room.

CollectivSynergy: I think that’s a Gristedes’, alongside the other one that fnpmom mentioned at 8th and University.

A couple of the dining halls have convenience store type set-ups for your quick trips. You can use your dining dollars or campus cash.

Thanks all guys. I’ve been in NYU for a week now and I went to Kmart on the first day.
