Throwing out all your clothes and going on an abercrombie shopping spree its probably the dumbest thing ive ever heard.
esp when abercrombie isnt what you wear normally
college=casual
don't worry about what everyone else is wearing, no one cares.
if u try to dress preppy and u dont normally ur going to look like an idiot.
it's more ur style and if u feel comfortable with urself and your clothes.......
in my experience i have noticed the great majority of college students wear casual clothes i.e. jeans and a shirt, a lot of spirit wear, sweatshirts and anything comfortable really... if it takes a lot to clean and keep clean its not going to last long...
I'd say that a very small percentage of students ( mainly the very rich) wear all prep.. ur not going to see the popped collar, blinged out, double shirt, 5x too big belt like in h.s.
abercrombie is for high school kids
even the Ivy's dont wear abercrombie.. they are nerds they wear more the button down dress shirts
save ur money until u get there and u really understand that its about comfort and THEN go buy ur new clothes....
that's basically for the guys tho, girls are a different story...

I'm one of these people who has worn polo shirts and khakis since birth, pretty much. I've been a loyal A&F customer for 6+ years.

And I'm not rich or anything...I might have a lot of new clothes from good makes, but I have an older car (which was paid off in 1993) and rarely go to the movie theater so I just invest differently.

It probably also is different for commuters. They can store more at home and can take care of it easier. Most of the A&F/Polo enthusiasts on my campus seem to be commuters. We even have a few A&F employees at my school.

And you are right, most kids just wear a t-shirt or a hoodie with the school's name on it.

real men wear khaki's and a t shirt

true story

I like to wear polo looking shirts but I hate clothing with logos on it. It's friggin advertising for the companies. I like some gap clothes b/c they don't have logos on a lot of the stuff. Otherwise i'll just wear wfu stuff.

I'm kind of mixed in my clothing style. On one hand I love J.Crew and Polo stuff, but then on the other hand I'm into more trendy stuff, like H&M and Urban Outfitters. Mixing the two styles works pretty well though since I feel like preppy clothes can go with a lot of different clothes.

Also, I read an essay by someone with the last name McBride titled, "Why I Hate Abercrombie & Fitch" The author claims that A&F is racist due to their hiring practices. It was interesting and while I wasn't 100% convinced after reading it, it did make me think a bit.

And yeah, jean shorts are pretty terrible. Cargos are fine though.

Hmmm... I like Guess, A|X and DKNY. Shirts with big patterns or graphics or stuff of the like. But I'll wear sweatpants everynow and then during the day also...

About A&F I just feel that I can get the same kinds of shirts and jeans anywhere else, so its not really worth it. Theres nothing that really catches my eye.

Lastly, jean shorts.. I'd never be caught wearing them I think they look aweful; on the other hand, cargos, if they're not too wide or long I'll wear them. I have a couple of cargo shorts plus some 3/4 shorts also.

What about clothes from designers like Gucci, Versace, Armani, Prada, Chanel, Coach, ect. I wear A+F, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Izod, and Lacoste right now. I'm thinking of getting some more designer clothes though.

i think they cost alot

im not sure hes even going to have to wait that long. most of those labels dont even produce mens clothing. some dont make clothing at all.

I personally like the tee-shirts Abercrombie makes. Unlike ordinary t-shirts, they have a comfy fit, soft texture, and nice details, so they're worth the extra $$$. Other than that, you could get the same types of clothes that ANF makes from any other place for a cheaper price.

yeah, college students prefer free tshirts

You only get what you pay for. I may have paid $100 for an Abercrombie jacket in 2000, but I still wear it all the time yet it looks almost new. Two of my friends bought jackets at Wal Mart that same year and neither have their jacket today...they both fell apart a few years ago.

I am going to bring soooo much clothes to college. My style is either dress pants and a dress shirt. Sometimes the whole suit, blazer or a sweater. On weeknds I like the more relaxed jeans and dress shirt,t-shirt or sweater deal. I hate the whole abercrombie *, kids need more style now a days. I am more into the higher end stuff, such as purple label, prada, gucci etc etc. But i can honestly say that if i didnt make my own money, I too would buy the abercrombie *.

"such as purple label, prada, gucci etc etc"

if you are under 30, wearing purple label is a little "trying too hard". ;)

ralph lauren is having a private sale this weekend, hope you didn't miss it.

Most of them do, or they make things like unisex sunglasses, I consider sunglasses a form of clothing, so yes they do all make some form of mens clothing. The cost doesn't matter, if you like the clothing. I just wanted to ask if you knew anyone who wore some of those designers clothing at college.

not really anyone wears that sort of stuff in college, everyones so strapped for cash gucci and the likes are kinda out of reach... as for the dude that says he goes for the suit and blazer look, if your doing that to class i bet you get all the ladies... i dont think i have ever seen anybody wearing a blazer to class... well other than pledges. if you do the whole suit thing in college youre gonna get made fun of by everyone, even the dorky kid that requests term papers...

I didnt miss the sale. I bought 3 shirts and a sweater. And clemsobo, I get plenty of ass from girls, and have gotten many many complements on the way that I dress, whether it be in class, a nightclub or just chillen with friends. I dont think Purple Label is trying to hard. All of the other RL stuff is garbage, and if I work my ass off making money why not enjoy it on **** I like instead of settle for crap that everyone esle wears. And when I rock the blazers, I am not wearing the one your grandpa wears when he goes sailing on the yacht. I dont dress nicely to get girls, although it does help. I do it because I want to look in the mirror and like what I see. My body is in shape so why not wrap it around with some nice ****. Thats my 2 cents - DAN

any male that actual wear abercrombie or Hollister is gay, at least thats how it is here.

^^^ Lol Vinny, it's the same here in Southern California, Abercrombie and Hollister for guys is generally considered gay.
