Club Interview!

I'm a freshman who has been in the school Key Club and now it's the time of the year for elections for next years positions. The available positions are: President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Board Members. We have an interview coming up so how do I do a good interview?

Be honest about your goals for the club and about your ability to achieve those goals.

We have an application that we have to fill out and it has some questions on it. I want to try to become a board member and I want to know what I should write to best persuade the President to choose me.

Please list the volunteering activities you participated in this year (This does not have to be a completely comprehensive list – just give a rough summation).

Why did you first originally join Key Club? How has it benefited you in high school?

Why do you want to be a Key Club board member (College applications, leadership skills, etc.) ?

As a board member, what would you do to change Key Club?

Please list some skills/experiences/ideas/etc. that you think make you a prime candidate to be on board next year.

Please list all other extracurricular activities that you plan on participating in next year. Please indicate if you hold any leadership positions in each activity ie. President of chess club.

If you have anything else about yourself that you think was not covered in any of the previous questions, then please write it here.

bump…

bump…

So answer those questions with your experience in Key Club and why you want to be an officer… if you’re trying to get CCers to answer the question, then you probably don’t really want the position.

I DO want the position, but how can I convince the president to choose me over others?

Again, answer honestly. There aren’t right or wrong answers. Assuming you’ve been a devoted and visible member of the club, there’s not much else to do. You can’t game this app; the questions are pretty straightforward.

I finished the application and we have a 30 seconds-1 minute speech on Wednesday. What aspect of myself should I talk about in that 1 minute? I don’t have much time to elaborate either

you need to relax. none of us know what the interviewer is like or what you are like or what the club is like. like the previous poster, be honest, show your enthusiasm and let them know that you are serious.

in that short interview, show that you are serious about it, passionate about it (not just doing it for college) and that you have the initiative to help run the club. good luck :)
