<p>I was looking at the NYU athletics home page today, and it talks about varsity sports, club sports, and intramurals, but I'm not exactly sure what a club sport is. Are they official NYU teams? or are they more casual like intramurals?</p>
<p>i think it’s in between. an official NYU team would be in an varsity conference. i think club sports are still organized, but aren’t as relaxed as intramurals.</p>
<p>Yeah, club sports operate very much like D3/varsity sports, but they’re not official teams. I played club lacrosse, and though we had a coach, played in an actual conference/division (and went to nationals!), and practiced all the damn time, we weren’t recognized as an official team because NYU just didn’t have the facilities for us.</p>
