club sports

Just wondering--how much experience do you need to join a club sport and/or how much time does it take up? I was looking through the student activities on the Grinnell website and I think that joining a club sport would be pretty fun as long as it's not hardcore.

Grinnell has a "no cuts" policy for all sports, including varsity sports. I imagine club sports have the same policy and you don't need any experience. I'm not sure how much time club sports take - probably depends on which sport. Varsity sports usually require about 2 hours a day, plus there's travel involved to games/tournaments on the weekends. My daughter plays two varsity sports and has made a lot of great friends on her teams. She still finds time to participate in other activities and her grades are fine. About the only thing she's sacrified is her part-time job. She cut way back on the hours during the season. Also, she doesn't get to go to every single party on the weekends because she might be on the road with her team. The coaches understand if you have to miss a practice now and then because you've got a big paper or test.
