Honestly theres no point listing them all out. It’s like asking what are the normal groceries one would buy at a supermarket.

On the first weekend before school starts there is a Club/Activities Fair where you can get information from every club at ucla.

There is no average on how many clubs one joins. You can be involved in zero or join as many as you like.

I would recommend joining one that you like. and maybe another where you are interested in doing.

for example I joined the snowboarding club because I wanted to get better at snowboarding etc…

I recommend joining at least one that has a lot of “socials” if you want to make friends, as opposed to acquaintances.

The most popular clubs completely depend on your interests… for certain fields of interest there are actually councils to organize the clubs available. For example, the Business Council was created a year or two ago, and I think there’s a Green Council as well for the plethora of environmental groups.

The way I would break it down:

Business Groups

Environmental Groups

Cultural Groups … for example the Chinese Student Association, Nikkei Student Union

Professional Organizations … Prelaw, Premed, Computer Science groups

Fraternities/ Sororities … of which there are also cultural ones

Sports clubs for virtually every type of physical activity

Social Action/ Community groups … think Red Cross, Invisible Children, etc.

Publications … the Daily Bruin, Bruin Business Review, cultural papers/ magazines etc.

There’s a list online at Orgsync I think, which is the system UCLA uses to manage its clubs. It is notoriously out of date though, as it’s pretty characteristic of any college to have clubs popup one year and die out the next as the founding members graduate.

Regardless, there’s absolutely more for you to get involved with than you’ll have time for!

Dance Marathon is the biggest student org on campus btw.

Isn’t there like a theater club that puts up productions or something like that?

Yes.
