CMU school culture

if somebody could just share with me the general school life in CMU in terms of its culture, location, activities. i would be very much grateful.

i'm an international student and as of now i know very little except from college review books, websites etc what have you and i don't think i want to trust them. nothing beats hearing it from the students themselves.

haha. as far as i know/heard
- sports is not very popular (what about intramurals?)
- some are really obsessed about studying. lol.
- active music organizations and activities? like, concerts and stuff? (major turn on!)
- dominant greek scene? i dont know, but i'm not interested in going greek anyway

correct these generalizations if i'm wrong; would have been misinformed. :)

and academics wise:
- many go to cmu for computer science, i presume
- and music.
- how do these programmes/schools fare across the nation?

I don't think the greek life is very dominant... but that's me.

There are active organizations and activities. Particularly in music. Are you in to singing or instrumental? There's non-major orchestra and many acapella groups.

Sports aren't too popular in school. buggy is popular, but that's not a sport (despite the running) is it?

Many ppl go to cmu for cs, music, architecture, engineering, design, business, etc etc. Basically if cmu offers a major in it, it's good.

If you have other questions, just ask ^_^
