I'm a new 2014 for CNR, and totally didn't realize until today that i'm in as conservation and resource studies. the whole time i've been planning to do Environ Econ and Policy, which includes the 7 course breadth. I'm headed to calso in a few weeks and don't know if i can/should sign up for which prereqs. CRS is so much more flexible. Can i just tell my advisor to bag whatever my acceptance thing says and let me switch out of CRS on the spot!? I plan to study abroad for at least a semester so my schedule is really important. Help!

Calm down. You won’t be able to switch out of CRS into EEP during CalSO, but neither do you have to. Just plan your schedule as if you were already an EEP major and then once the semester starts you can fill out a petition to change majors (easy). What major you’re officially listed under doesn’t matter until second semester of your sophomore year in most cases, and at any rate it’s really easy to switch between them.

I think the first semester is all general stuff…you have plenty of time to change your major

thanks. i figured i was freaking a little much but that’s a good plan. and besides, i’m kindof warming up to the idea of CRS anyway, more flexibility etc. and no matter what i do 1st sem there’ll only be one class discrepancy between the two so…thanks
