Does this sound like a good idea? I was planning on filling up most of my breadth reqs (i'm CRS major - We don't need to do all 7 areas but about 4) with latin american stuff and would um hopefully like to also learn spanish? ahah it's alot but i wonder how feasible this seems to y'all. i'd ideally like to study abroad in south america.

Minors can have maximum a one UD course overlap with your major.

The OP is a student in the CNR, with a major of CRS. That has only two breadth requirements. One course chosen from the arts/literature, philosophy/values or historical studies, and a second course from either social/behavioral or international studies areas. If the OP selects 2 courses about Latin America that fit one of those requirements each, it fits the requirement.

Very unlikely to be an overlap between a CRS major upper division course and the UD courses for a minor in ethnic studies at L&S.

I believe the OP is then asking whether they can take a degree in CRS from the college of natural resources with a minor in chicano/latino studies from the college of L&S. If I misunderstood the question, then ignore all this.

Majors from two colleges are called simultaneous degrees rather than double degrees. What would you call a minor from a different college?

OP - it does look like you could study abroad in Latin America and potentially use that towards the minor requirements (assuming that cross college minors are okay).

The requirements of the minor are (from the ethnic studies department website):

The minor in Chicano Studies consists of completion of five upper division courses from: 101, 110, 130, 133, 135A, 135B, 135C, 141, 142, 143, 145, 148, 149, 150A, 150B, 159, 161, 162, 163, 165, 172, 174, 176, 179 or 180. Students may also use one approved course from another department or EAP.

Sweet, thanks Rider
