College Admissions Essay?

I'm doing my essay on an obstacle overcome..... it's about overcoming my rough childhood. Should I try to keep the essay as positive as possible? Or as accurate as possible with a positive ending on how I overcame it since the situation was kind of negative.... If that makes sense?

Also, If they are unhappy with your essay, how much does that decrease your chance of getting accepted? Thanks :)

.......I feel like i'm constantly overthinking this whole admissions process.

You are overthinking it. The essay part is 2 questions, and you can only do 250 words for each question. Your stats are pretty good, you should be able to get in if you apply early. You should try to retake the ACT for a better chance.

honestly UCF is not big on the essay portion. what they care about most is your GPA and SAT/ ACT scores! just make sure those are good and you will be fine!
