Hello bronze2, if you are listing colleges’ EA rates from lowest to highest, shouldn’t Notre Dame fall between Duke and Dartmouth, or does the Congregation of the Holy Cross get some special consideration?
U Michigan stats? Seems crazily selective this year, but would love some stats.
The r/applyingtocollege is blowing up with “got deferred” from U Michigan, like to see the stats ^^^
The Michigan admissions blog stated that they had “almost 40,000” EA apps this year. I’m speculating, but I’m thinking that Michigan EA acceptance rate will be around 15-20%

Numbers of early apps are up at a lot of schools (notable exceptions include Harvard and Columbia). Does this portend an overall increase in apps or just a shift from RD to early?
Percent increase in early applications over last year:
Rice 19.5%
Cornell 17.4%
Duke 16.3%
Penn 15.1%
Boston College 15.0% (approx., from counselor letter)
MIT 13.9%
Dartmouth 13.6%
Yale 12.7%
Brown 10.5%
Notre Dame 9.6%
Princeton 8.0%
Northwestern 6.0%
Johns Hopkins 5.3%
Harvard 2.4%
Columbia 0.0%
@Maximilias I left Notre Dame in the EA section whereas Duke and Dartmouth are ED schools. The ED schools should have near 100% acceptance, and hence their early admits guarantee that number of spots will be filled, with minor deviations (attrition and a few deferrals to 2023). the EA admits have a lower conversion rate for next year’s class.
@evergreen5 I admit that I like to delve into these admission statistics. Since the schools never release all their data we are left with trying to decipher based on the tidbits we do get. I would say that this is more likely a shift from RD to early. However, I also think that overall admission rates will once again be lower not so much because we get more applicants but because the same applicants apply to more schools. All these ED and Early results may spook some RD candidates into submitting one or two more applications as a hedge. All speculative but interesting at this point.
Does anyone know how many were Defered for ILR???
Adding Emory University:
http://news.emory.edu/stories/2017/12/er_early_decision_questbridge/campus.html
The admission rates for Emory can be a bit confusing since students may apply to Emory College, Oxford College, or both.

Apparently Columbia admitted 15.9% last year and they got one less app this year, so I feel like their admit rate should be similar: http://www.thedp.com/article/2017/12/early-decision-ivy-league-philadelphia-upenn-admissions-legacy

Any info on Purdue EA? I don’t see that they ever release this info, but it would be nice to know.
Boston College EA 3,170 out of 10,350 (30.6%)
http://bcheights.com/2018/01/17/3170-admitted-early-action-class-2022/ Other fun facts:

- Admitted EA average SAT 1453, average ACT 33 (compare to EA last year 1425 and 33)
- Total app pool for class of 2022 is 31,000, a 9% increase
- 20% of deferred students may be accepted in RD
