Have any college candidates for 2012 heard anything from USNA regarding appointments, LOA's, scholastic qualified, etc?

Nothing here yet. We were told by a BGO that the admissions office does not look at college applicants until March.

Interesting, what's the reason behind that at Annapolis? For USAFA, I have a college friend who already has received the big envelope.

I believe the board looks at all college records at the same time.

They looked at mine early enough as I got my LOA in November. However, I'm a sophomore in college, so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Last year as a freshman college student, they looked in November, too.

I'm glad my information was wrong about college applicants. I'm not sure why there is so much conflicting information from those who should know. But waiting is never easy, is it?

USNA typically wants to see first semster grades from freshmen college applicants before offering an appointment. Thus, when you get looked at probably depends on how quickly your grades are available. Obviously, there is already a year of grades for sophomores and above, so a good set of grades freshman year may be all CGO needs.

No big surprise here, but USNA1985 is right.

I was first reviewed in November and passed over the first time around. By the time my fall semester grades came out, I was DQ'd by DODMERB anyway. I didn't get the final letter until sometime in April, I believe.

I didn't do great my fall semester freshman year, so it's no surprise at all that I was turned back. However, with a strong performance in the spring and summer, apparently I showed them something they liked as I got the LOA before my fall grades sophomore year.

The board will start looking at college applicants this week or next week.

Any updates from College candidates to report hearing from USNA yet?

We are in the waiting mode as well. Application is complete. Only 3 months until mid-April.

I went to a University for 2 years (applied twice, both times while in College), and both the denial and the appointment came in late April.
