College Application Listing of Major

Hi everyone! Just wondering if you are allowed to put your double major [or minor] area of study in the space where you are supposed to indicate our intended major.

Ex. I want to double major in clinical science and religion.
I want to major in art history with a minor in economics.

Just wondering . . .

Typically, applications that ask for intended major want you to provide only one. Some applications provide a second answer space so you can provide a second choice major, but they do that to consider whether you should be admitted to your second choice major if they decide against you on the first choice major.

That you might want to double major or minor in something might be something to mention in an essay but it is not usually an issue covered in the body of the application.

I’d put one major. If there is a second choice option, list the second one in that spot, and if not, include it elsewhere in your application. Some colleges do admit by department. Most colleges will let you cross into another department to pursue a minor, but there may be some out there that don’t. Also, it may be possible your app is being processed by a computer that may not recognize that you are listing two areas of study. One would hope these wouldn’t be serious errors, but better to play it safe.

@Groundwork2022 Sounds good…thanks! I definitely want to do a combined major / double major . . .
