My sister finished her UC app on Nov 30th, unaware that deadline would be extended. She just needed to submit it but it lagged didn't allow her to, therefore she had to get a friend to do it(the friend isn't facing much trouble with UCOP). So my sister gives her the info to her app and ask her to simply scroll down and press submit. Well, my sister's friend wasn't able to do that somehow(amazing, I know and this is future UC students, possibly -.-) and replaced my sister's essay with one of her own. So now, my sister has one of her essay along with another of her friend's. They both have one identical essay. She'll be calling, but won't be rested well during the weekend since its long due to MLKjr.

Short story:
My sister has one of her essay, and one of her friend's essay. Her friend has both her original essays. Problem: they both have one identical essay.

Any help please, will her app be jeopardized? Will they allow her to replace the essay with her own, or will they allow her to redo for winter quarter? If anyone somehow(even though there are hundreds of thousands of apps every year) faced this problem, please help!

My sister had a sort of similar thing happen to her. Her essays somehow didn’t get sent at all for Cornell and Georgetown. They let her send in her essays and seemed to believe that she had actually written them beforehand and wasn’t just turning them in late, but she ended up rejected from both schools. Georgetown was her first choice, so that was pretty sad, and she did have a small boost, legacy status at Cornell. They were both reaches though, so she may have been rejected anyway. She did end up at a college that she absolutely loves, which is, incidentally, usually ranked higher than both Cornell and Georgetown.
It was probably the most stressed I’d ever seen my sister. I hope your sister gets through it well and ends up somewhere great, within the UC system or without. Just be as honest as possible when you call and get in the essay pronto if it’s allowed.

Sorry if my sister’s situation was too different to be helpful and best of luck.

Hey thanks dude, that’s good enough. Thanks for the story, and yeah hopefully they’re cool with it. Its a terrible sitution though ><

I smell sabotage by your sister’s friend, possibly? For what reason would her friend change any of the essays or info in here app?

Apparently my sister got f’d over by her friend because a mutual friend told my sister that her friend had actually stole my sister’s essay and switched theirs because my sister’s friend had a horrible essay. So what do you guys think? Her friend stole her essay, she’ll be disqualified. My oh my

Yeah, it doesn’t sound like an accident at all.
It sucks for your sister…make sure she can explain the situation well.
