College Confidential users BEWARE

I love the paranoia that's suddenly erupted. In any case, I agree with all of the above about how CC should not influence decisions because even the best of us rant/complain/argue once in a while/all the time.

To Quicksand and Anyone else who think I am a GWU official:
WRONG...gosh..this is just plain stupid...whoever thinks I am GWU official...
Quicksand=senior member? LMAO at your noobness.
I will PM Pat myself. You guys are ridiculous...

wow, at the OP. That's pretty insane. What did the body of the e-mail even say -- was it warning you to not post your stats or something?

lol Qsand pwns!

this is none of your business in the first place and you wrongly accused me of being some GWU official. After I told you I am not, you don't want to admit the fact that you are wrong. You started saying that I am some kinda of "boogeyman" who can't be trusted.
Now that is just ridiculous.
It is Pat's decision, not yours.
Is it so hard to say that you are wrong of accusing me being an GWU official? That is the immaturity I am talking about.

Whatever this isn't worth it.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I didn't say that you really are a GWU official. I was merely just suggesting it.

JJac610, i am well aware that i am posting what happened to me on this very same site. Yes, i did say that the email that was sent to me was arrogant (and when i say arrogant, it was arrogant in the fact that he did not acknowledge my reply back. also, bc in the email he used what his "colleagues" told him as fact, and the information he used was far from fact. He rushed to judgements throughout the email) But i posted it on here to give a heads up to others. I know very well people that work closley to colleges can be on here and read what i am saying. However, i am doing nothing wrong here. Besides, this a site where peope can post whatever they want, fact or not fact. And back to the possibility of my admissions to the college being revoked, if that were to happen, that would be based on unethical grounds. But, either way, i have already sent out letters to my other colleges withdrawing my acceptances/applications due to my acceptance to gwu early decision

...and thankss everyone for congratulating me on my acceptance to gwu....good luck to everyonee else as well!

Maybe the admissions officer just clicked "send email to PatM1401", which would then send an email to whatever address he gave when he created his account. I feel as though you should have kept the whole ordeal private and dealt with this yourself.

This is obviously not true.

did the admission officer actually call you by name?
and what did he actually say that was so offensive? what did you say that got him so angry?
this is really freaky

yeo pat dude im glad u did that. It opens a lot of applicant's eyes (including myself). But there wuzz a huge risk factor. But since u got into GWU it doesnt matter so congrats.

that's funny, I'm sure they would waste time looking at posts of people with anonymous screen names.

This is so obviously fake...

lol.............

how could they tie ur cc account to you personally? u must have posted sensitive information.

Maybe Fordham doesn't get a lot of applications from Pottstown, PA???

Yes, college admissions people do come on here. Why not? CC after all is addicting.

One Vanderbilt admissions counselor admits to coming and lurking on the Vanderbilt forum. He thinks chances threads are silly and unsubstantiated. But he understands that people are anxious about being admitted so he sort of excuses them. And he reads other stuff as well, since he mentioned it in the Vandy admissions blog.

But I think that would take too much time for the admissions people to pick a username, track them down and find out information about them so they can already be biased about them during the admissions committee.

Fordham is crazy, if this whole thing is real. They need to get a grip.

There are also parents who work closely with their child's college (I'm one). CC is a great place to help steer students toward or away (as appropriate) from a school one knows a lot about, in addition to trying to answer questions.

Both Tufts and JHU have admission counselors come onto the site to answer questions. They are invaluable and have dispelled rumors and replaced it with fact, right down to Tufts syndrome. My suggestion would be that students or parents not write anything on here they wouldn't be perfectly willing to ask or say in a one-on-one conversation with admissions given the opportunity to do so.

And.. if anyone would extrapolate my opinion to that of my son's would be completely errant in doing so. I raised a very independent kid who doesn't agree with me on lots and lots (and lots) of subjects.

Hey vossron,

How come I only have 1 post showing. Something seems crikey to me!
