College Courses

I just submitted my MIT EA app. On it, I mention that I've taken some courses at a local university. Should I have that school send MIT a transcript?

Yes, definitely.

Not if it costs money. In that case, you can just submit an unofficial one or...Just write the grade in...you're on the honor system.
If you want to petition credit for it later once you get in, then you will need an official transcript, but you should be fine wihtout the official transcript for now.

I don't know, I sent them a University transcipt. I just think it's much more professional if you do.

send an official transcript for all courses you have taken for credit, whether from high schools or colleges. Yes, it will cost money. You still have to do it.

i didnt send in any official transcripts last year and they didnt question what i put down. save yourself the money.
or if you're relaly not sure, just call the admissions office and ask.

I would not chance this. In the instructions for the Self-reported course work section of the app it clearly states "the information you provide does not replace your official high school transcript, which must be sent to us from your school". I don't see any reason to think that this would not apply to your college courses too. Smiliekat may have had such a strong application otherwise that the lack of an official transcript for the college courses was not important. It is not the college's responsibility to question deficiencies in your application and give you a chance to fix them. They will either admit or reject you based on whatever they have.

For what it's worth, I'm not sure what our official stance on this is - only because in the apps I've read, the official transcript(s) was/were always included.

I requested it today (it'll be in the mail tomorrow). I'm just glad they don't charge for transcripts.
