My daughter applied to COD on 10/2 with numbers that fall into the admissions profile - she has a 28 on her ACT, 3.75 GAP (non-weighted), and in the top 12% of her class. She has taken as many Honors and AP classes as she could and is very involved within the high school (Varsity Dance, Varsity Tennis, NHS, International Club, French Honor Society and officer/manager/captain of many of these.
I honestly am surprised she has not gotten a response yet. She decided to wait to apply to her 2 other “back ups” until she heard from U of MN. I am wondering if that was a mistake now.
I see all the “chance me” posts and questions on here about all the other Colleges but never anything about COD. I know it is very small. Is that why it is taking longer to hear a decision? I made an assumption that since it was such a small College (college of Design - not U of MN), she would hear back quickly. Any one have any time frame on responses from COD?
Good luck to all of you hoping to see an acceptance soon!
Has anyone heard from COD yet? It could be simply that they haven’t begun to review those applications yet.
With her stats, she’s most likely in. She should also be applying to her backups because she doesn’t know her scholarship or financial aid package yet and she might change her mind after visiting everyone in the spring and/or learning more about her planned major at those places. Nothing is certain till May 1!
Edit to add: what is she planning to study?
I hope that is the case! Maybe since it is such a smaller college, they review those last or later than the others.
She plans to major in Graphic Design. She has visited all her top 3 choices many, many times and knows that U of MN is where she feels most at home. If she gets accepted, she will attend U of MN. She went ahead and submitted applications to her 2 back-ups this morning just in case.
A slim letter came in the mail today from U of MN addressed to her and she was in a total panic thinking it was a decline letter. Thankfully it was just a letter “thanking her for applying”!
Thanks for your response!
Hahahaha after my D was admitted she received a slim letter inviting her to apply to the satellite campuses . . . .
That is the same letter she received yesterday. “thank you for applying…but would you also like to apply to one or more of the U of MN campuses with no additional application fee…” She worried it was a bad sign but I assured her it was just a generic form letter they must send out to all applicants. I will be sure to share with her that your daughter received one too - after acceptance - to stop her worries.
Has anyone gotten any response for COD yet? My daughter still has not heard anything and is getting so worried. I see lots and lots of acceptances posted in other threads but nothing for COD.
@momof3inwi hopefully very soon! There’s no way she isn’t accepted to CDes given her stats, leadership, and EC’s.
@JBStillFlying Thanks for the reassurance - I feel she should easily be accepted, but the long wait has me second guessing myself! I try to keep it to myself but now my daughter is starting to stress over it. I am so hopeful they just let her know, one way or the other, soon! She already got accepted to her #2 pick so at least she has a back up ready to go. Fingers crossed we hear very soon!
Thank you for making me feel better about it all in the meantime!
Great news - my daughter got the acceptance today! She is thrilled!
@momof3inwi congrats to her and good luck in her decision. UMN would be lucky to have her!
