Early_College, did you do their early estimator? Was it very far off from that?

$3,000 more then their early estimator. I had a feeling it was going to be bad.

Oh wow. That would be a deal killer for us. I’m not sure why I’m even worried about it, D has sent her deposit in to Sewanee already but I think in the back of my mind I’m hoping for a really amazing package that covers almost everything, from somewhere.

We just got D’s FA offer. I wouldn’t say it’s horrible but it’s not as good as what she got from Sewanee. They expect her to take out the full 5500 a year in loans and that’s not going to happen. In the end the out of pocket came out around 3K more a year than the estimate said, for us also (if you could the loan differences) , Early_College.

I would have to pay $9,000 per year at Knox (IL) VS $21,000 a year at Wooster. Talk about a big difference!

Oh gosh, that is a big difference. We don’t have to come OOP that much anywhere yet, not unless you add loans into that number. I would definitely say Knox wins that.

That’s not even including loans. But right now it’s between Knox, Earlham (12k per year), and Juniata (13k per year). I’m still waiting for two decisions and 6 fa awards though.

Well best of luck! I’m really glad D’s settled on Sewanee and as her first choice it came through, but the glutton in me is still stalking the mail for the rest of her decisions and awards, “just in case.”

Best of luck to everyone! keep the good news coming!

I heard back from Wooster the day after Christmas and I got in!! Best present ever haha. They gave me a scholarship and mailed me later with the FA package. It was decent but no where near compared to my other schools. I emailed Wooster saying that I couldn’t come to admitted students day because I live far away (CT) and that unfortunately Wooster is out of the race because my other schools are giving me more money. They told me that they are looking over my FA case again and will possibly give me more money based off my other schools’ FA packages. SO, if Wooster is high on your list, talk to them and ask to have your FA package to be reviewed. Hopefully, you’ll get more need based aid and if not, at least you tried! Good luck to everyone!

Finally in! Small merit award. We will see what DS decides

Congrats caesarcreek! As mangadeba said, maybe you should try to ask them to get your FA reviewed…

Wooster is even more disorganized after you get here. They send you in circles constantly. When you look at your FA make sure they have included the recent $1800 raise they just approved. And if your package includes work-study, don’t count on it actually happening the way it is spelled out on paper. I had friends who kept getting turned down for jobs (you have to apply after you get here) so that money never came through.

Flamethrower, I now know where the $1800 in tuition increases are going. Congrats on your almost free ride at Wooster, but since there is no such thing as a free lunch, you will notice that it is your classmates paying you to come from Indochina to Wooster.

What, seriously you think that? It doesn’t work that way, kid.

??? what doesn’t work what way???

I thought money comes from donors… never thought of what clio15 said before… but it might be true, I clearly have no idea. But of course so very thankful of the free ride

hello, I am an international.Does knox provide such huge amt of aid to internationals. I heard that they do not offer more than half of tuition. I like that college and applying EA 1. Plz suggest should i or not? I have good stst which is above average for knox i guess.
