Okay, so what exactly is a “general college-preparatory program”? Isn’t it just like a class to help prepare you for college? I was looking through the UC San Diego common data set and it says it’s required to take one.

My cousin who lives in Cali (I’m out-of-state) is required to take a class called ‘AVID’, which I think is the college prep program thing. And if the class is required to take to get into any of the UCs then I have a problem… My school doesn’t offer AVID or any other college prep classes. I know there is a community college that offers SAT Prep courses for .3 and .4 credit, but is this the same thing as AVID or whatever?

Or if you are talking about the points system. You can get points in the comprehensive review for participating in different sorts of college prep programs such as AVID.

I believe comprehensive review for college prep programs also includes SAT classes/tutoring. I was skeptical myself (I took the class but didn't put it on the app), but I think several people on the forum did do that and they got off fine.

Or are you refering to the G in the A-G courses?

G l College-Preparatory Electives 1 year required
