Hi, I was admitted to UCSC as freshman applicant and major in human biology. Throughout high school, I have took 3 community college classes: intro to government, intro to Com Sci, and intro to psychology, but for the intro to computer science, I got a F. My high school transcript is overall decent, I have a 4.16 gpa in fall senior year, and also the spring. Will my situation be rescind from ucsc?
You need to speak with your guidance counselor about how to approach this issue. The general rule is no D or F grades. Ask you guidance counselor to mediate on your behalf with UCSC admissions. Is there a reason you failed? Maybe there is some mitigating circumstance that affected your grades. Unfortunately, that grade must be reported in your final transcripts to UCSC.
As stated above by @lkg4answers you must report the F grade and supply a college transcript.
See the provisional admission policy quoted below:
** Provide all official transcripts on or before July 1, 2020 to Undergraduate Admissions. Official transcripts must be electronically submitted or postmarked by the July 1 deadline. (Beginning in May, the MyUCSC portal will contain the list of transcripts required from you.)
You must arrange to have an official, final high school transcript or equivalent showing your date of graduation and final spring term grades and any college/university official transcripts sent to Undergraduate Admissions, either electronically or via mail. An official transcript is one that UA receives directly from the institution, either electronically or in a sealed envelope, with appropriate identifying information and authorized signature indicating the exact date of graduation. If you receive a GED or CHSPE or other high school completion equivalent, an official copy of the results is required.
For any college course(s) attempted or completed, regardless of location, an official transcript from the college is required; the course(s) must appear on the original college transcript. Even if a college course or courses are posted on your official high school transcript, a separate official college transcript is required. It is required even if you do not wish to receive UCSC credit for the course. If it later comes to our attention that you attempted or completed a college course at a college or university not listed on your application, you no longer meet this condition of your admission.
An official transcript sent via mail must be postmarked no later than July 1 . If your school is not able to meet the deadline, please have a school official call 831-459-4008 to request an extension prior to July 1. Official transcripts sent via mail should be addressed to: Office of Undergraduate Admissions - Hahn, UC Santa Cruz, 1156 High Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95064.
do I have a high chance of getting rescind from ucsc? Because that is the only class I failed and it is a community college class and my high school transcript is fine.
Any a-g course you take while in HS at a CC, still requires you pass with a C or higher. I believe that if it was not for Covid-19, that UCSC would have grounds for rescinding your acceptance but most UC’s are going to be lenient due to the current situation.
Definitely get your GC involved and hopefully you will be OK. I am assuming you did not list the F on your UC application when you applied this past Fall? Or did you list the course and grade?
The course I took was in the fall 2019 which was not affected by the covid 19 and I did not put the grade in when I apply to uc.
Not reporting the grade is an additional strike against you so make sure you report the F now and if you have a plausible explanation of why you got that grade, submit it also. UC’s do not like surprises. Better to find out your status now than in July or August.
Did they reply to your case yet? My case is similar and I am still anxious and waiting for their reply.
