I thought it might be of interest to students on this site to see where theatre majors and recent grads are actually working. Since summer schedules are a bit lighter and we might actually be able to see some shows, it'd be great to pay attention to where the talent learned. More and more of those cast are mentioning their schools in their bios. For instance, I just saw West Side Story at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philly; a great show with phenomenal dancing. Here's a list of those mentioning their college training:

Rebecca Brancato (Rosalia, u/s Anita) - Oklahoma City University

Billy Bustamante (Juano) - University of the Arts? (? because he didn't say he attended but cheered UArts.)

Michael Crowley (Big Deal, although, on 5/27 he played Action) - NYU - BFA,Tisch,CAP 21

Christina Decicco (Maria) - Wagner College - BA

Mindy Dougherty (Velma) - Penn State - BFA M/T

Michael Gillis (Tony) - Northwestern

Megan Hart (Consuela) - NYU - BFA, Tisch

Michael Longoria (Chino) - NYU-BFA

Tracey Petrillo (Graziella) - Southwest Missouri State University - BFA

Syhlo Smith (Teresita) - NYU - BFA/Dance

Ashley Vanderwerker ( Francisca) - Marymount Manhattan - Dance/Communications

Ryan Watkinson (Diesel) - Penn State - Junior towards BFA/M/T

Also, several have strong national credits and history w/ strong companies such as South Carolina Theatre, North Carolina Theatre, LaScala Opera House, Fulto Opera House, North Shore, Prince Music Theatre, etc. It's great to see such talent move beyond NYC. After all, if everyone set their sights strictly there, the theatre-going public around the world would be severely slighted. Hopefully, those starting out will be inspired by the accomplishments of these young performers - their hard work is paying off.

If anyone attends a show and finds similar cast bio notes on school training, it'd be great to share it here.
