I’m currently starting my transfer application process for a few schools. I would like to get some opinions on how likely it would be to get into these schools. These schools include Duke, Johns Hopkins, Brown, University of Virginia, Vanderbilt, Tufts, Notre Dame and University of Maryland. I’m in my second semester of my freshman year at Florida Institute of Technology. I earned 4.0 last semester and have a 4.0 right now for the Spring. I am also a flight student there as well as on the DII lacrosse team. Im also a veteran. Unfortunately I got a 2.5 gpa in high school. I graduated back in 2015. Does my more recent success erase my high school mistakes? It has been half a decade now. Let me know what you think.
As a current frosh applying for sophomore transfer, your high school record will still be considered for transfer admission, due to the limited college record you have. However, if you apply next year as a sophomore for junior transfer, your high school record will become much less significant (or basically ignored at some colleges).
For example, Maryland says that high school record and SAT/ACT scores are required if you have not completed 30 semester or 45 quarter credits (one full time year or college work) by the time of application, but are not required otherwise: Transfer Applicant Requirements | UMD Undergraduate Admissions
Virginia says that “We look equally at your high school record and your college work if you are applying as a second year student. If you are applying as a third year student, we look primarily at your college work.” https://admission.virginia.edu/transfer/transfer-faq
Thanks for the response!
