Hi, I am currently attending a local community college and about to start my second year. I am planning on transferring next year for Fall 2012. I currently have a 3.25 but after my summer class I think my GPA will drop to 3.13 :/ By Spring 2012, my gpa should rise again to 3.3. I plan on applying to UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UC Davis, CSU Long Beach, San Diego State, Loyola Marymount, and University of San Diego. In high school, I was an honors/AP student with a 3.8 gpa. I also did volunteer work and sports all throughout high school. I've been working since I was 15 and currently work at Bank of America as a teller. I don't know if the extracurriculars help at all as a transfer student but do any of you think I have a chance of acceptance at least in the CSU's? I'm asking those of you who are attending these schools or have been accepted.

If you think you can raise your GPA back up to a 3.2 by the end of Fall semester you should TAG to SB. If your GPA doesn’t drop below a 3.2 after Summer session you would have the option to TAG to either UCD, UCI, or UCSB. I think UCSD would be a reach for you but it depends on whether you are applying for a competitive major.

Your high school records won’t matter at all to UCs or CSUs (except to check language requirement) and won’t be weighted very heavily at LMU or USD from what admissions reps have told me.

CSULB and SDSU are both extremely impacted campuses so admissions are tougher for those coming from CCs outside of their service areas. Not sure where you are living but if you are within the service area for either campus than you should be a shoe-in for that campus. They have limited spaces for people outside of their local area so your GEs and Pre-Reqs must be completed before transfer. Your GPA seems to be in the range of acceptance to CSULB depending on your major. You can see their stats for Fall 2011 here: [CSULB Enrollment Services](http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/transfer_gpa.html)
I couldn’t find one for SDSU.

As for extra-curriculars, they matter more at UCLA/UCB than the other UCs. CSUs don’t weight them very much either, if at all. I think they will come more into play with the private universities since they tend to have a more holistic approach to admissions.

I know you asked for those who are attending or have been accepted but I thought I would share what knowledge I have with you anyways I spend too much time at my school’s transfer center lol

Good luck to you! :)

Follow IGETC and try to raise ur GPA. I highly recommend for u to look in to TAG program for UCI, UCD, UCSB. Good luck

I definitely was looking into TAG but I’m pretty sure my GPA will drop right below 3.2 right before the deadline for TAG applications. I was told your GPA must be 3.2 when you’re applying for TAG. Therefore, I don’t think I can be guaranteed admission… however, I’ve noticed Davis has accepted students below a 3.2…

For UCSB the 3.2 has to be met by the end of Fall 2012. SB and SD are the only schools where you have until the end of Fall to meet the GPA reqs for TAG.

No way… seriously? I thought my application would automatically be disqualified since my GPA wouldn’t be 3.2 at the date of application. But that’s awesome! How do you know that though? Are you 100% sure?
