I entered the answers of my SAT practice test from the official book in the online score calculator/helper/whatever you want to call it, and it gave out the results in score ranges. How should I estimate my actual result?

Also, is it possible to get 800 in the Writing section even if I don't get 12 points for the Essay?

u can take the halfway score between the given range.
and to the second question, yes, it is possible. u can look for the writing score chart for more specific infor.

I did read that, but I couldn’t exactly understand how that happens - does the MC score compensate for the essays score, or something else?

Those tests were developed before 2005, when the test changed, and they were strictly used for the blue book. Therefore, they do not have enough data to compute an accurate scaled score. If you look at the first 3 tests in the blue book, they DO have a scaled score. This is because they were previously administered tests. But tests 4-10 do not because they have never been given.

That’s helpful, but it doesn’t really anser either one of my questions.

just calculate out the MC raw score and find the right score range in terms of your essay score. it is not that complex i think.:)

Did that. The result is still in range.

There is no way to find your exact score because the data does not exist. You can estimate your score as suggested by the first poster by taking the average of the range.

Of all the tests I have seen, test takers have to have at least an 8 on the essay to receive a perfect writing score. So yes, it is possible.

Thanks I’ll take averages.
