Colleges mailing important documents to students.

I have a little problem with my mailing address on my CSS profile and I was wondering if any colleges will send anything important to me through mail. Does anyone have any case of receiving important documents related to financial aid from colleges through regular mail? Will they send it to me through email, in soft copy, as well?

What address did you use on your application? Is that correct?

Some schools do still use snail mail.

The address is old. I already moved out of that address. I am worried that they will send the financial award letter to the old address and I won’t know about it.

Yes some still mail information. The majority FA information for my oldest two kids (over the last few years), however, came via the college’s portal or to email even if snail mail was also used. Can you update your address on the FASFA and CSS sites and also send change of address notices to the schools via email, your application portal and snail mail?

I did not think of changing the address on the school portal! Thanks ReturningFavor! Is it also possible if the schools will send the mail to my permanent address as well?

You can email the FA office at each college with the update. I would just do that. If the profile was already sent to the colleges, you can’t update it there.

Why would your permanent address be different than the address you put on your applications??

I used to live away from my family, overseas. Once my education was finished, I had no business in that country so I moved back to the permanent address.
