What colleges are close by to concert venues where artists/bands (specifically hard rock) tend to frequently play at?

USF has concerts about once every two weeks in its Sundome (sometimes they’re even free for students), plus most huge concerts are held in a venue close by.

Colorado state is in ft Collins only an hour outta Denver. Denver is HUGE for hard rock and metal, the Fillmore auditorium hosts great shows.

^Only an hour? Ha ha. That’s WAY too close.

Uhh… University of Texas Austin?

CU -Boulder… the Fox theater there has some good shows and denver is 45 minutes away.

Then, any school in an urban area…

Many colleges have concerts on campus. And most colleges in urban locations will have plenty of music venues nearby. Why dont you look up the tour schedule of your favorite bands and see where they are playing, and pick your college that way? I’d be annoyed with my kids if they chose that way, but hey, thats your call.

Madisonnnn We have two amazing smaller theatres and a really huge one. Concerts don’t normally come to the campus itself, but UW is so integrated into the city of Madison that it works out fine.

And the most amazing concerts come to Madison, let me tell you…

Portland and Seattle are well known for their concert venues.

UNC has Cat’s Cradle. UNC, Duke and NC State are all near Walnut Creek, the RBC Center, and the new Raleigh Ampitheater, which all grab major artists every year.

Also, UGA is well-known for its music scene.

I’ll vouch for GT, Emory, or anything else in Atlanta - any show that comes through the south stops in Atlanta and GT or Emory are right in the centre of downtown, between the classical/theatrical venues (symphony, Fox Theatre) and the concert venues (Georgia Dome, Aaron’s, Tabernacle, or Opera). Also, Atlanta is one of the homes of hiphop, if that’s what you’re into :)

how about boston? i don’t know about rock, but a lot of jazz/funk and electronic artists come through. there are also a ton of schools in boston.

minneapolis/st. paul i’ve heard has a pretty big music scene (University of Minnesota).
