Colleges that are modifying acceptance decision date

If you have any knowledge of schools who are moving their acceptance decision dates, please post here. I think it will be helpful for students who may be waiting for others to make their decisions so that spots open up for those who are on waitlists.

I saw on another thread there is a twitter list but I do not have twitter.

@flippedout Ithaca College has extended acceptance decision date to June 1st.

Apparently Elon has extended their decision date to 3/20!

Emerson has extended their deadline for students to accept offers to June 1.

Boy, am I glad we are not on any wait lists … this is absolutely brutal for those of you who are, and also brutal for those of you with many options and a feeling like you are making decisions under duress. Just awful all around. My best wishes to everyone.

@Dance3Looks3 , my son is on both sides of this , waitlisted at a school that had he gotten into would have been his first choice Think and we have 2 other schools that he has not seen, we may get to one if we are lucky. But he has choices that we we can afford with little debt taken on by him so we are looking on the bright side. we have seen 6 of his 8 choices. But if anyone does not want to go to UPITTS business school please give up that spot , I know someone who would like it

George Mason University extended it’s deadline to June 1st.

If a program extends the date to commit to the department, I would assume you must also be sure to confirm whether you have the same extension to commit to the university/college/conservatory. Will admissions protect the academic merit /scholarship monies offered beyond May 1st. Certainly a concern if coming off of a waitlist after May 1st. Losing merit/scholarship money could make attending suddenly unaffordable. Does anyone have experience with this as it relates to clearing a waitlist after May 1st, or how it may apply if a department extends their deadline to June 1st?

I THINK there is usually a certain amount of money for scholarships for a department. Once the money has been dispersed thee isn’t any more left to hand out. This is why when you come off a waitlist you are late to the game and could probably not receive as/much. (Aside from merit that is guaranteed etc). You really don’t have much negotiating “power”.

Concern is most monies are NOT coming from the department, but are automatic academic merit monies tied to the 5/1 deadline. I understood merit monies are not guaranteed after 5/1.

At this point, I think everything is in flux and colleges are all scrambling to figure out what to do. I’m reaching out to my D’s admitted colleges and asking for an update. So far…

Montclair State - “We have not finalized updated deadlines but do anticipate providing students additional time to make their decision this year. We are also working on virtual ways to connect our newly admitted students to the campus community. More information to follow shortly.”

Ohio U - “Undergraduate Admissions will extend the May 1 deadline for admissions and scholarships to at least June 1 and as needed for families throughout the summer as space permits.”

Columbia College of Chicago - June 1st

Arcadia University - June 1st

@mtgal24 do you mean 4/20 for Elon?

Nazareth has extended their commit date to 6/1.

Marymount Manhattan is now June 1

Catholic University and Franklin & Marshall are now June 1.

SUNY Fredonia extended to June 1
