What are some top schools that calculate the senior year gpa for college admissions?
Admission decisions come out before the end of Senior year so are you asking if they include 1st semester Senior grades in their GPA calculation?
@Gumbymom yes, thats what i meant! sorry for the confusion haha
That would be the vast majority.
“Erin’s Dad” really? how do they count it in though, if its worth only one semester? would they multiply the other three years by two?
@“Erin’s Dad”
It’s only worth one semester vs the other six you have.
thank you!!!
UCs do not include senior year grades.
^ While true the OP is from the east coast and hasn’t listed a UC on any of her threads.
^^^But can’t the question be answered for other readers of the thread rather than discouraging good info from being posted? Poster asked about top schools which UCB and UCLA would be included. I remember being surprised that UCs didn’t look at senior year at all. That is good to know long before student is in senior year.
Are you thinking you’ll get top grades first semester of sr year and make up for some lower grades? Because holistic adcoms will look at the transcript and see the grades. And most colleges don’t recalculate, they use the gpa you and/or the GC supply. Maybe this is a question for the GC. Will he/she recalculate when sending the first semester grades.
I haven’t looked at the OP’s past posting history, but I’d disagree that the vast majority of colleges factor in senior year grades. Most colleges in the US are actually rolling admissions and send admissions decisions out before the end of 1st semester. Many others don’t ask for mid-term grades to be sent.
That’s interesting. I thought most were RD schools. I’ve only seen a double handful listed as rolling. Do you have a link for that info?
There’s a list on prepscholar, it wont let me post the link here.
Thanks. That’s a long list.
What about the GPAs reported by colleges. Are those derived from applicants or final GPAs which would include senior year?
