Oxford University (evaluations with letter grades)

At one point in time, UCSC had "narrative evaluations" with a Pass / No Pass system (no letter grades). That was a while back. Today, while narrative evaluations are still done for all courses in which credit is given, most all classes have letter grades. In order for any UCSC student to use the Pass / No Pass option, they have to be in good academic standing, and no more than 25% of total credits earned may use the Pass / No Pass option.

There are plenty of other schools that offer a Pass / No Pass option for certain classes. Emory University is one.

Brown has a pass/fail option. I'm not sure how common it is to for students to use it, though.

My understanding is that Sarah Lawrence records letter grades in the transcript but also gives narrative evaluations from professors. It's not that they don't have grades; students just don't have to view them unless they want to.

At Bennington you can request grades as well. You can also get both grades and evaluations.

Reed is the same way. Grades aren't given out though they are recorded. You have to ask for them.
