Colleges with best/worst names

Mount Olive college...makes me think of pickles

Worst name for a college: Northwestern
Best name for a college: Chicago, NYU

While Northwestern doesn't make any sense, Chicago and NYU make perfect sense.

SUNY Purchase. That just sounds...plain off.

For private schools, UChicago, NYU and BU are about as uncreative as you can get.

^^^ Umm who cares? they all sound good, and are right to the point. Better then calling it Microsoft University or some corporate bull.

These schools were founded in the 1800's though before the concept of naming things like 3Com Park existed.

Occidental. Makes me think of the Dentist.

It means Western.

Slippery Rock is still the worst name I've ever heard...

Actually, I spelled that with the extra "a" intentionally. It just sounds sooo much cooler.

Fordham University can be abbreviated FU.

Bob Jones sounds kinda weird. Just my opinion.

Beaver College, now Arcadia U, somwhere near Philly

Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI). They made fun of them when they got in the NCAA tournament. Oooey-Pooey

best = Harvard, Oxford, Stanford, Princeton

Harvey Mudd, Case Western, Cooper Union, Chubb

I vote for SCAD and Ringling School of Art and Design for the worst names

Worst: The University of Maryland University College (repetitive, redundant and repetitive)
Lasell College (gets confused with LaSalle)
