Furman could be best or worse depending on how you look at it My friend goes there and he says it was once called Furman University of Christian Knights...yes...F.U.C.K...lol Now they've changed it to just FU!

Not exactly, their sports teams' nickname used to the Christian Knights, so they were the Furman University Christian Knights. Now they are the Palladins.

Like: Dartmouth, Emory

Dislike: Cornell, WUSTL

Albertson College of Idaho

Ball State, Harvey Mudd.

I'm sure College of Notre Dame of Maryland has been mentioned many times in 38 pages.

Eckerd--a school named for a drugstore.

Kalamazoo and Walla Walla...

Now those are some great names! XD

"American University in London at Florence."
LOL

Bad: Sooooo many.....Skidmore (for the reasons other people said), Misericordia (sounds too much like "misery"), Elmira, Bob Jones (how about at least ROBERT Jones??), Oral Roberts (hee hee), Denison (always reminded me of deer and couldn't figure out why until I realized it sounded like Venison), Pitzer, Goucher (makes me think of gaucho pants or cowboys or something), Hood (WEIRD), DePauw (sounds like a retarded version of DePaul), Stetson, Kutztown, Slippery Rock, Hofstra (sounds like someone spitting, or like a name for a huge cow), Dickinson (too easy), Scranton, Longwood (hee hee), Ball State, CSU Dominguez Hills (wth is Dom. Hills and who calls it that?), Teikyo Post, Oglethorpe, Muskingum, Case Western, Wooster.

There's also too many St. Somethingorothers, Notre Dames, Mount St. Somethings, and Loyolas, and I can't tell them apart, so that's not too good.

On I-80 I'd see signs for DQU and wondered "Huh? Is that where they train Dairy Queen employees??!?)

New favorite bad name: Millikin U, because I'm reading the book "Wicked" and one of the regions in Oz is named Gillikin....cracks me up

Before we took the APUSH test me & my friend had to look through that booklet of colleges in case we wanted to send our scores to colleges and my friend found a place called "Moody Bible Institute" and had to stop ourselves from busting out laughing.

Good: I wished Lafayette was a better fit for my personality because I really want to apply there just for the name...
Kenyon
Transylvania (I like it! I'd totally go there if it wasn't in Kentucky LOL)
Castleton State U (sounds cool)
Arcadia
Beloit
Lake Forest/Wake Forest

Lesson learned: I like names that sound like forests or old places with castles :-D

I like the name Occidental College because there's a town 5 miles away from me called Occidental....

I learned that there was a college called

Friends University of Central Kansas...

but they eventually changed it. :D

Transylvania University

I kind of think Hofstra is a little difficult. Plus, their sportsteam members are called.....drumroll please...the flying Dutchmen!

Speaking of Ball State, I remembered I made a joke a while ago about how Ball State HAS to have rolling admissions. Everyone looked at me weird. I think only a CC'er could've laughed at that one.

Best: Georgetown, Duke
Worst: Rice

Harvard is weird. It sounds like Aardvark.

I like Emory, because it sound like Emerald.

Best names:
Wake Forest
Vanderbilt
Dartmouth
Princeton
Stanford

Worst names:
Duke
Yale
Clemson
Auburn
Muhlenberg College
Sweet Briar

I'd say the all-time conversation-starting education would be:

Kalamazoo College for a B.A., then Transylvania U for for a master's, then U of Tasmania (in Australia) for a Ph.D.

or

Washington and Lee for a B.A., Lewis and Clark for a master's, and William and Mary for a Ph.D.

No...really....the most AWKWARD name is....BRYN MAWR!

Amherst bothers me because for the longest time I pronounced the H. Same with Earlham (even though I'm applying :p)!
