<p>BerkEley then. The pronounciation remains unchanged.</p>

<p>^^^
don't mess with Berkeley on this board. Very dangerous.</p>

<p>best: trinity, rhodes, knox, pepperdine
worst: puget sound, st. olaf, agnes scott!</p>

<p>Colgate.</p>

<p>"Where did you go to school?"
"Colgate!"
"Hahaha did you study toothpaste?"</p>

<p>:l</p>

<p>Worst: Tufts, Colby, and all the abbreviations (UCLA, SUNY ___). Also, the private colleges that have "state" names. University of Southern California, UPenn, Connecticut College, etc.</p>

<p>Best: Kalamazoo, Harvard, Princeton, and Bryn Mawr (because I always spell it incorrectly - Bryn RAWR!).</p>

<p>^
LOL!</p>

<p>Names I like:
Princeton
Harvard
Duke
Vanderbilt
Stanford......although I call it the Furd
Wellesley
Pomona
and of course Berkeley.</p>

<p>Names I Dislike
Ball State...obvious
Rutgers...harsh sounding
Brown... nothing good comes in that color and very generic
Kalamazoo.. Kalamawhat?
Purdue... a chicken company?
Colgate.... a toothpaste
Emory...not a bad name but for some reason sounds like an all girls school
Anything University of(location) or known primarily for its location.. i guess you could say this includes Berkeley and Stanford but most people don't really know the cities that well.
And no Acronyms...every state university uses acronyms and its boring</p>

<p>deep springs sounds kinda nice...and some of these comments are hilarious</p>

<p>emory sounds like a girl's name, i like.
pomona sounds nice too, kinda like a girl's name
vanderbilt was named after a rich guy.
colgate = toothpaste. will never go there.
purdue = weird..
kalamazoo = sounds like kamikaze. not. but still funny sounding.
ursinius = sounds like uranus. haha what the
goucher = sounds like grouch</p>

<p>asian parent/family friend: what school do u go to?
me: kalamazoo
parent: ...***?</p>

<p>lmao i can so imagine that except obviously im still in HS</p>

<p>lmao *** ball state</p>

<p>Most of the schools I applied to have weird names. Maybe it's a thing with LACs- Colgate, Grinnell, Bryn Mawr, VASSAR. All gross sounding names, I think, Vassar being the worst. Vassar sounds like some kind of wart or I don't know.</p>

<p>BJU is a bad name...especially for what that university wants to promote.</p>

<p>Colgate is also kinda weird.</p>

<p>My favorites: Duke, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Emory, Notre Dame, Amherst, Stanford...</p>

<p>Best: HAHHHHVAHD (it even sounds snobby haha), Princeton (royalty?), Vanderbilt, Amherst, Stanford, a few more...</p>

<p>Worst: Tufts (makes me think of a balding cat), Bryn Mawr (wth?), Mount Holyoke, Colgate, Goucher (ick!), Brown Mackie, Scripps, I could go on.</p>

<p>This is funnyyyyy hah</p>

<p>How about being a "Babson Beaver?"</p>

<p>the cooper union. lol a union for all those coopers.</p>

<p>Best: Hahvahd, Princeton, Swarthmore, Brandeis, Juliard, Duke, Stanturd, Kalamazoo, and Wazzu - they just sound cool</p>

<p>Worst: Colgate, Bowdoin, Urbana-Campaign (it would've been cool if it were Champagne), Morehead, Moorpark (backwards, it's kraproom, haha), Brown, New School, Berklee (they misspelled it =P)</p>

<p>A family friend's son refused to look at Muhlenberg because it made him think of mules. I find that hilarious, although the name doesn't bother me at all personally.</p>

<p>i love urbana-campaign...dunno why
amherst sounds awesome, too
swathmore</p>

<p>Best names:
fUCLA
U$C
'turd</p>

<p>:p</p>

<p>hahaha, I don't know why I thought of that. =p</p>

<p>In other news, "Berkeley" was originally pronounced "BARK-lee," after Bishop George Berkeley.</p>

<p>MIT: sounds like all these smart people
CalTech: also smart, but more nerdy than smart
Northwestern: is it in seattle or Washington state? NO!
Vanderbilt: sounds preppy...like Pepperdine
Brown: eh. vaguely reminiscent of excrement
WUSTL: too long
U Notre Dame: it sounds like there are bunch of hunchbacks taking classes in cathedrals
Johns Hopkins: as already mentioned, too many s.
Daniel Webster College: reminds me of a dictionary. Also the name of my friend's tennis coach
Penn State Schuylkill: who killed what?
Penn State University Park: sounds like a theme park</p>

<p>tufts always sounded a little funny to me, although it is my first choice.</p>
