Colleges with best/worst names

<p>WUSTL should seriously consider changing the name of their school.</p>

<p>Marlboro and Tufts are heinously bad sounding. Same with Salve Regina (like Saliva...ugh, nevermind.)</p>

<p>Worst:
Beloit, Kalamazoo, Colgate, Scripps, Binghamton U., Duke</p>

<p>Good:
Wellesley, Dartmouth, Princeton, Vassar</p>

<p>I'll post some more later with my reasoning behind it, as well.</p>

<p>I've never been real crazy about the name of my alma mater - University of Pittsburgh. "Pitt" isn't a flattering nickname, but UP is worse. (Is that the opposite of down? Or is it "you pee"?)</p>

<p>on the transylvania website, they call themselves "transys". that's too close to transsexual...</p>

<p>princeton and georgetown are by far the best.</p>

<p>How about Aberystwyth (University of Wales). Way too hard to pronounce.</p>

<p>Their Department of International Politics is the oldest department of its kind in the world.</p>

<p>Worst names: Walla Walla State University, Concordia College.
Come to think of it, Concordia doesn't sound do bad compared to Walla Walla State.</p>

<p>How about Transylvania University in Kentucky for a worst candidate in the ghoulish category. As for best, Rhodes College got a PR winner by changing its name some years ago from Southwestern University in Memphis to "Rhodes" after a professor who taught there.</p>

<p>Slippery Rock State University in Pennsylvania almost slipped my mind as a worst name candidate.</p>

<p>What is so bad about Marlboro? It's a fairly common town name aswell.</p>

<p>Is it just me or is Skidmore the worst one...it kind of reminds me of skid mark...</p>
