Colorado School of Mines Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

My kid just got word that he’s accepted. It’s the only one he applied to. To say he’s happy is an understatement.

:woman_shrugging: Not sure, half of these he shouldn’t have decisions on yet… some he got early October decisions on and I’m not sure, but most say they received his application and due to his exemplary academic and extracurricular activities they processed his application and offered him admission. He’s been given quite a few merit scholarships and it could have to do with coaches as well… he’s been meeting and talking to tons of coaches, talking a lot of that on himself with huge National and international tournaments, with many of these top coaches or Olympic coaches coaching him and traveling with him so they personally have seen him in action. ASU, surprised me in how early he heard as did mines, since he just put his letter of recs in at the end of last month and uploaded a copy of his Mines Medal of Achievement in Math and Science award and scholarship offer paperwork from last year, like two weeks ago. He got the rest of his paperwork in early but all supplement paperwork was after the sept cutoff

Congratulations to your kiddo! This is an terrific school and if your child is in sports, their facilities and coaches are amazing! This is one of my boys top picks, so it was really exciting for him as well!

Lol thank you. not sure he’s at olympic level yet, but he’s done a lot of international traveling with those coaches and has many National and international placements… but college level and senior level, is a whole lot different then junior level competitions.

It’s very exciting. He must be very focused to do so much and get so many apps in so early. Would you be willing to share how much merit he got? I’ve heard mixed things about Mines’ scholarships.

Seems like it’s been a while since the first batch got their decisions. I wonder if each admissions officer is releasing their decisions in a batch? My son has Dale Gaubatz listed as his AO but hasn’t heard anything yet.

Some schools are direct admit if a student in the top 6% or 10% of a student’s class, and some schools prioritize applications for those classifications and/or sports prospects. If applications are done early, it is not uncommon to have acceptances and merit scholarships. KUDOS to your kiddo. Purdue is a set release date, they do not roll admissions. CU Boulder is the same if your are out of state, so I am assuming you are in state (and that may make acceptance different). Best of luck on the Air Force Academy and Purdue. This is an exciting time!

My kiddo did received his acceptance and merit today!

Woohoo congratulations to your kiddo as well! Yes we are in state and he is the top ranked kid in his graduating class, with his sights set on being valedictorian and hoping to graduate high school with his associates, so you may be right on why he’s heard. Yes, Purdue is the 15/16 of December I believe and the academy will could be sometime in March/April… thank you for your well wishes and congratulations again to your kiddo! It’s an amazing school which is why it’s one of my boys top picks!

Yes! My kiddo has also applied to Purdue and CU Boulder, among others. He has some great offers in hand. He will be doing Air Force ROTC, but is not applying to the Academy.

That is awesome!! My boy is doing the Air Force ROTC scholarship (waiting in his counselor form to complete it) as well, as a backup got of he doesn’t get into the Academy… plus his top school choices all have AROTC - he’s got mines, Purdue, ASU, Oklahoma, and Iowa on his scholarship application for it… it’s awesome when you see other kids applying to the same colleges, because it shows you just how good those programs are. Good luck again and on all of your kiddos applications!

Still nothing. Kind of frustrated that they wouldn’t send out all of the decisions on the same day. I guess we have to wait until Monday now.

My son found out he got in today. So excited. He now has to make the decision between Iowa State, Mines, Louisville, and the place He felt most at home u of toledo. He applied to 10 schools and has heard from 9. Only toledo is left. So excited for him and everyone’s kids as they make the first step to adulthood.
