Morning Colors is the hoisting of the American flag at the beginning of the day. On school days at KP, weather permitting, the cermony is held at 0745 (0750?) at the flag pole in front of Wiley Hall. The regiment forms up, the band marches out playing a George M. Cohan tune, then at the proper moment, the band strikes up the national anthem and the color guard hoists the flag to the top of the 172 foot tall flag pole. It never fails to give me goose bumps. For those of you who share a patriotic streak, the thrill will justify the need for an early arrival.
If you are in town for Parents' Weekend and you get to the academy by 0730 or so, you should have time to park and take in the ceremony.

it was cool the first 15 times....... so for parents i suggest going to it...

KP10...thanks for my morning laugh!

KP10'sMom, whatever are you doing for entertainment since KP is all the way across the country now? You've got to be missing that wit across the dinner table. LOL I see you rolling your eyes. LOL You've got a good one. :)

Jamz, We truly miss him particularly at Friday night festitivities. We have made it a point to attempt to always have a big family meal on Friday night complete with vigorous talking and debating. We do still have his little brother to brighten the table conversation, I don't know what we will talk about when they are both gone except a lot of "remember whens......"

I must say the IMs from KP10 have been a godsend. His sense of humor comes through and through. Although, well we haven't heard from the dude for a couple of nights. Of course I know that is because he has been making very good use of his time studying.............
