@maddieportnoy18 On April Fools? That would be too cruel. Plus its Easter Sunday ;-)P
@stanford2022 @CValle I’m from Bangalore, and I had my interview a few days back! I had applied to Columbia last year as well. It was a pleasant surprise when I got the same interviewer haha! It went very well though
I am not sure about everyone else, but I just received a likely letter from Columbia University in my email. I am not an athlete or anything so I am super ecstatic to potentially be accepted into Columbia. Good luck to everyone else!
@RagingTaco1234
Congrats!
@RagingTaco1234 Congratulations! My D just got one too! What an incredible surprise! Her college advisor says that means she gets admitted unless she gets arrested or something.
@Volunteerism @MomLA2018 Thank you! I was so surprised. I didn’t interview and it seemed a bit early, but it was a pleasant surprise. Just have to maintain grades and not get arrested haha.
@RagingTaco1234 congrats. I noted you also got full scholarship from USC and other top schools. which part of your application do you think makes you standout? Just can’t wait…
@Laketahoe79 Honestly I’m not quite sure. I used two completely different personal statements for the schools. For USC, I talked about peer tutoring. For Columbia, I talked about my favorite word. I think overall, my hooks as a URM combined with my recommendations, solid scores/GPA, and my answers to the short essays were what got me in. I also come from a pretty small town and I am a first-generation college student.
@ragingtaco123, Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the rest of senior year!
S excited rcvd “LL to be named an Egleston Scholar.” Last week rcvd LL. Summary:4/4, ACT:35 super, 11APs + (outside HS) 3 college Math courses. Passion. No other hooks.
Congratulations @california32146 – did the two announcements arrive in separate emails?
My son received a Likely Letter today in email! We are very proud.
Congratulations @brazos21 !!! That certainly makes March much less stressful!
@MomLA2018 Yes separate emails say 1 week apart. Good luck to your child.
Thanks! She was thrilled to get her likely letter but is really hoping for Regents at UCLA and was actually checking her email to see if those announcements went out today when she saw the Columbia letter.
Everyday I keep checking this thread haha to those that received likely letters- congrats!!! If you don’t mind, please share your story/stats!
If you are asking me, my D’s interview was in mid-January.
Thank u!! I had my interview Feb 26th, so I’m wondering if there will be a wave of likely letters for students with later interviews
@Tolvyornottoivy, not necessarily. My DS received the LL from Columbia 2 weeks ago and he didn’t do an interview with them
From this thread, it seems like they send thousands of them!
