I didn’t have an interview and still got a likely letter, so I guess it’s really just a matter of availability
I got a likely letter yesterday by email, so they’re still coming
@ greeneandh yes my son has got those emails
Those who got likely letters, why do you think you got it? Athlete? Winning competitions?
My S did not get the email for early financial aid estimate. Did anyone else not get it?
We did not get the early financial aid estimate. I wonder if that is a bad sign?
Just checked the financial tracking portal & it made me change my password from my birthdate to a real password. Anyone else run into this?
@bigchoices2018 Yes.
yes… was able to a couple of days ago.
@deb12267 @HoosierDaddy1995 Thanks! Obviously disquieted by even the slightest change LOL
My son received Likely Letter last week and today received another Likely Letter inviting him to be a Science Research Fellow. It sounds like an incredible opportunity with dollars. He has already been admitted to MIT and Caltech so not sure it will sway him away from MIT but was surprised. Does anyone know about this program?
@brazos21 I’ll be willing to take one of those likely letters off your hands if its too burdensome
@brazos21 – my D just got that too. If you look on the website, you will see the pictures of the current participants and descriptions of the awesome research they are doing. I think there are only 10-15 kids per year. Supposedly the program helps you get work in a lab you really want starting as a freshman. And in addition to the money, you get access to excellent advisors etc. My D is really interested in life sciences research so this is perfect for her to do at Columbia. Congratulations to your son! Maybe he will meet my D on the visit day!
My S is excited about the research opportunities! Good luck folks!
When I go on financial aid tracker, my tracking option is not available. I have had my documents in since November since I was deferred ED. Is anyone else having this problem?
@ those who got likely letters, did your admission portals update to reflect the letter?
No update on portal.
No update on portal
Are we most likely getting a rejection if we do not get a likely letter?
@confused6789 No, almost all admitted students get in without likely letters. From what I’ve read, likely letters are essentially a marketing tool used by the college to increase the chances of their top applicants to commit to that school, since it gets you thinking about the school before hearing from anywhere else.
