I'm an incoming student and for the past few days I have been contacting Columbia for visa issues and etc. The administration was so slow and uncaring. Emails that I waited for ages were short and uninformative (one email even sounded pretty angry). Is bureaucratic work usually handled that slow, unkind and insincere at Columbia? I was happy to be accepted but now I just am angry and frustrated witnessing their work. Because of my absolute worst experience with the administration, I'm not really looking forward to going to Columbia although it's a wonderful school. Any advice from students with a similar experience?

I kinda had the same feeling. People in the Admissions office were usually pretty nice, but people at the ISSO (who handle international VISA stuff) were slow and usually had awfully poor and uninformative responses. But dont feel down, man: every organization has its black sheep haha. Better to have bad bureaucrats and a good learning environment than the other way around! hahaha
