NYC here!

I’m from Wisconsin. My friend from the other high school in our district is also applying ED, but no one else is applying ED from our school. I think only 2 other people are even going for RD. Most people are going for Vandy/U-Chicago/Duke.

If I get into Columbia, I’m going to visit campus and celebrate. It’s Orgo Night and Midnight Breakfast on the day decisions are released.

Lol I’ve actually had the opposite experience. There’s over 3000 kids at my school, but it honestly feels like I’ve known these people all my life (ugh cliche, I know). I guess that’s what happens when you grow up in the burbs. That being said, everyone generally sticks to their own social circles. Majority of the kids are more concerned about getting into the state school with the best football team/frat parties than going to an Ivy League haha.

I’m from Colorado at a school of 2000, with about 400 seniors. I’m 1 of 2 people applying Early Decision here. Although I do know many people who applied REA to Stanford.

I’ve been lurking so I feel like I should say something- I’m from Canada, super nervous about next week!! I can’t believe it’s so close.

My senior class has about 100 kids. For me, that’s the perfect size.

My senior class has ~500 kids, and I’ve always thought that was a “normal” or “medium” size. After looking at everyone else’s I guess I was wrong lol

My senior class has about 700 and my school total is about 3000 but it’s also Southern California so what do you expect with such a big population, haha… and from what I know I’m the only Columbia ED applicant - there might be a couple RD but most people are aiming for Stanford as opposed to going to the east coast.

@ilovethecity

Yessir/ma’am, I was but I’m a domestic applicant this round

We have a graduating class of 45 and I’ve always thought that was the “perfect size” lol I can’t even begin to imagine thousands!!

My class size is 250 and literally everyone knows everyone haha. One of the smallest schools in my area. The average school pop. is in the thousands.

CT! My class size is 25, though, so I’m ready to be lost in the city

How far along is everyone on their other apps. I have literally 0 motivation to do anything right now :p

I called the admissions office, and the guy wouldn’t release the decisions date.
Someone else said it was the 11th, but now how can we be sure?

@ilovethecity That’s really weird, the lady I spoke to a couple of days was very forthcoming about the admissions date. Still, Columbia has historically released its ED decisions on a Thursday before the 15th, and seeing as how the 11th is the only remaining Thursday before the 15th, I think it’s safe to assume that that is still the official release date.
It wouldn’t hurt to call the admissions office later and try and ask again for confirmation, though lol.

Just called the admissions office, and the woman said that even though document tracking has been extended to December 7th, the planned official release date of the decisions is still the 11th. She said that it may POSSIBLY be pushed further if they need more time, but we will receive SOME kind of info on the 11th if that’s the case, and as of right now, the 11th still IS a go for decision release.

@sparkl3 I’m trying to stay focused and work on my other college apps in case this doesn’t work out, but it really is difficult to do that right now… I wish the decisions were out already, whatever they may be, just so that I can get on with my life!

Only ED applicant from a school in Arizona with other 2500 kids here! We’ve NEVER sent any kid to a top 20 school in the 10 years of our school’s existence, so I’m hoping to be the first!!

@wilguen same here! We have had plenty go to UC Berkeley and UCLA but only Ivy League a couple times (one of them being last year). I really hope I can continue this for our school especially the first one from here to ever go to Columbia but who knows we’ll see - it is what it is.
