So, we’re all sure that the 11th isn’t just speculation right?

I never heard of likely letters for non-athletes in the early rounds for any of the Ivys. One of my friend got a likely from Cornell in the RD last year.

question: why would they even give likely letters in the first place for ED? isnt ED binding?

So there’s a thread that says Columbia Class of 2019 ED Results Only and someone already posted that he/she has been accepted. The post was from December 1st. If the final decision doesn’t come out until December 11th, then how come this person already knows? Anyone any idea?

@barca03 he or she got in via Questbridge!

@barca03
Questbridge applicants are notified a week early.

If the whole point of likelies is to get the student on your good side and increase the chances of them coming, then I don’t get why they would send out likelies to the ED round, since everybody is legally bound to come if admitted anyway.

@barca03
that was me. Perhaps I should’ve waited until the official decision date, but I was, as you may understand, quite happy to find out I’d been matched to my dream school.

Also, we (QB matches) are not officially offered admission until the 11th, due to Ivy rules, so the letters that we get are actually like binding likely letters

So, how do you get on the portal? Is it different from the application tracking page?

Did anyone sit for any interview with an Columbia Alumnus? I have not been notified about any interviews. Since only 4 days left to go, I guess there is no alumnus available for an interview in my region. Right?

@akashnila
Yes, you can assume that there are no interviewers in your area. Interviews are based on availability, and you are not at a disadvantage if you don’t get one. Where are you from?

@naoman16 same here! Columbia is a great university but just seeing the rejection itself would make me even more worried and less confident that I’ll get into another college.

Also, does anyone know how to get into the portal or has that information not been released yet?

I had a dream yesterday about getting deferred from Columbia. I think it honestly felt worse than a flat out rejection …

Currently in calc, obsessively refreshing my email on the off chance of getting the Columbia email that tells you how to get on to the portal…:o

Your application tracking portal IS the decision portal. Don’t stress too much.

Source: Myself last year

I can still get into the portal. Should that not be happening?

@reecie569 I can too, I don’t think it means anything (I hope )

@ilovethecity

I am from Bangladesh. Where are you from? Is this your first ED application?

@reecie569 @dancella12 I can too, and I’m sure others can as well. It doesn’t mean anything, don’t worry!
