Pretty damn anxious and pretty damn upset. Hoping for a miracle.

Does anyone know what the chances are for deferred EDers to get in RD?

here’s a thread that might provide some information… i’ll read it too

@yellowboy Yea I only have the Home tab, the other two are gone.

Yayyy no school tomorrow because of an expected storm rain in Bay Area which means I’ll either celebrate or get depressed next to my dog at home ! That’s the Mother Nature’s magic right there though, no kidding …

@Dream321 I want a spontaneous rainstorm, too, dammit! Lol jk lucky you!! ;)

@blitzbound I wrote a second essay for that topic and put it in the additional info section on common app…
Mine was about how I was diagnosed with high-functioning autism in middle school and how I dealt with that. I explained how it affected my life through high school and how it helps me now that I can cope with all the issues that come along with it.

@seasmaybe your username is cute c;

Before all hell breaks loose tomorrow when I get a rejection, I’ll say it was great chatting with all of you! You seem like nice people, and I wish you all the best.

How much do you guys think being a legacy matters at Columbia when it comes to admissions?

not self reporting your APs… how bad is that gonna affect my app :(

@Hosidia It gives you a boost, especially in the ED round.

@Hosidia depends on the kind of legacy. I’m a legacy as in: my mom, my dad, my aunt, my grandfather, and my grandmother all went to Columbia (3 to CC and then respective Columbia grad schools, the other two to just grad schools). My family, however, has never given huge sums of money to the school as some legacies’ parents do, so I have none of that helping me. Then there are kids who maybe had one or two parents or a relative attend a Columbia graduate school, and that does not help much at all in terms of getting their kid into Columbia for undergrad. That’s what I’ve been told, take it with a grain of salt if you want, but I hope it gives you some idea on the chances for legacies.

@trirunner96 my mom went to CC but she doesn’t donate much so I guess it doesn’t matter too much. Thanks for your answer!

@T26E4 where did I say I was angry at the other kid from my school? we’re actually close friends. I’m upset with the college for not giving me an interviewer when they clearly had them available in my area. But, ultimately, I’m upset with myself because not being offered an interview probably means I wasn’t good enough to be considered. And @viphan, the fact that the interviewers CHOOSE the interviewees is exactly why I’m upset! I didn’t stand out, and they didn’t choose me.

I wish you all the best of luck. We’re all in this together. I’m finding this website really detrimental, and wish I hadn’t even begun posting, as it hasn’t offered me any comfort.

@livingdoll Hey, maybe I can offer you a little comfort. Based on what my interviewer told me, they interviewers only receive your name and basic information, and your top choices for majors. They didn’t see any stats, any EC’s, anything really other than a couple of personal preferences. My guess is that, considering many of these people are very busy, the interviewer in your area only decided to do one. I’m betting the difference between you and your friend, in your interviewer’s eyes, was a toss of coin. I wouldn’t assume it’s because you are somehow worse off. I’m quite certain there was nothing personal about the interviewers decision. It was probably just a time constraint, in which case, you’re decision won’t be affected by the lack of an interview. Sorry for the long message, I hope I helped in some way.

@livingdoll I agree with reecie. Honestly though, my interview was not really great so i wish I was you. So think of it in a positive way okay? If you are confident with everything else on ur application, just stay that way and maybe youll be cc '19 and you worried for no reason seriously!! :)

@misslanette Self-reporting AP scores can give you a boost, especially if they’re 4’s and 5’s. I read this in “A is for Admissions.”

damn it i did really well in them but i had no idea oops. #rejection
