Columbia ED Class of 2019

To all blurry eyes 29,000 RD applicants!
Don’t believe a word when adcom tells you its holistic. “The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” Same thing with word holistic “The greatest trick Colleges ever pulled was convincing the world we look at you holistically.”

My condolences in advance.

@SteveWasko‌ i strongly believe admissions is holistic. Otherwise, people with below 30 on the ACT would never be accepted.
@akashnila yes, I applied for financial aid. I honestly don’t know how that affected me, but who really know. I believe that I was deferred because of my low SAT score and my random extracurriculars. My major doesn’t really reflect anything that I do, and admissions officers like singularly-talented applicants.

hey guys can yall help me find where i can see my financial awards. i cant seem to find it.

@ilovethecity‌ - if you think 30 ACT and URM (again nothing wrong in it) is holistic … Godspeed. (And yes- I don’t believe “everything” what people say here in their "ED " acceptance. stats )

I hear you. My son got deferred. very disappointed but that’s life. SAT 2310, PSAT 233, 12 AP’s, eagle scouts, and won many national and state level competitions in science, math, and debate tournaments, hundreds of hours in community services and volunteer activities. He is an exceptional kid in my eyes no matter what Columbia thinks.

I feel you @rollcall‌ It’s funny how these elite schools’ admission process works. Best of luck to your son :D

Accepted. My family had an EFC of 0. SAT 1950, ACT 28. Loads of international internships including living abroad. I think that did it. So excited. I thought I was a definite reject but my counselor thought otherwise. she was right!!

I asked for a full ride essentially. Have an EFC of 0 as my father is disabled and on SSDI. ACCEPTED!!!

@viphan, thank you!

Accepted!

Accepted! Thanks to everyone on here for helping me cope with the admissions process ^_^

There are always exceptions and just because you never heard of anyone getting admitted with a C does not mean in has not happened and will not happen. I wish you all the best during the college application process and senior year of high school!

Congrats to all who were accepted! I’ll admit it, I’m truly jealous of you. But I know you guys must be really special.
I hope that come March, I will be able to join you at Columbia University (I’ll try my best to be un-deferred). I wish you all the best no matter what happens! :x <:-P

Does anyone know if we get a physical acceptance letter or how to get one?

@ctjm88‌ Yes, you’ll get one. The admissions committee just sent them out yesterday.
Hopefully, I’ll get one too in March >:D<

@ctjm88 You may or may not have gotten the email from admissions about how they are only sending some of the physical letters of acceptance/rejection to students b/c of “environmental responsibility”. Somewhere on the website should be an option to request a physical copy, just in case you are one of the individuals they decided to not send it to.

@akashnila‌ Yeah my family’s EFC is 0 and I’m a DACA student so a deferral is honestly not so bad.

ACCEPTED!! Looking forward to seeing you on campus!!!

They will mail out physical acceptance letter and a bunch of other stuffs but I have not received the package yet ( live in China, tooo far haha)

Deferred! I’m quite proud of myself though. I mean, it’s the #4 school in the nation, and at least being deferred shows that I’m not the bottom of the pail! Extracurricular activities ftw!
