Columbia ED or EA chances

Student at Stuyvesant HS.

SAT: 1560

GPA: 95

Decent EC’s

What would my chances be for Columbia ED or EA?

“Decent ECs” isn’t specific enough. All I really have to go off of is the GPA and SAT score which are definitely competitive, but you can’t get in with those alone. It really depends on how good your ECs are.

ECs: USATMS (2 years), AIME qualifier, tutored students for the SHSAT (2 years), Columbia SIAM program,

Also, 1st gen american, 2nd gen college, asian american male

A few comments
–I don’t believe Columbia has an EA option.
— The acceptance rate for Columbia last year was well under 10% – it must be considered a long-shot for any unhooked applicant.
–You appear academically qualified but that is only the starting point.

–Much will depend on the rest of your application – how you present yourself, how your LORs present you etc.
-First generation American and 2nd generation college won’t do much for you in the admission process. Asian American male generally is not a plus to an application.
–Absolutely give Columbia your best shot, but also expand your horizons and recognize that there are many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.

What else would I want to highlight?

With your stats, you are qualified to apply. It will be up to your ECs and your essays to determine whether you get accepted
