Columbia says 2 teacher recs only, but will it hurt me if I submit 3?

on the Columbia App, there's teacher reports A and B. But will it hurt me if I submit 3 teacher recs instead of 2?

No, but make sure that the reason you're supplying 3 isn't because you want additional "evidence", but rather, because the 3rd person provides a very unique perspective on you that is important for the admissions committee to read. emphasis on unique... it should show a totally different dimension for you.

I think when I applied I provided 4 recs, believe it or not, but in addition to the 2 teachers requested, I sent in one from my boss at work (had worked for him full-time for a year and a half) and the principal of my school (who had approved my plan to work FT senior year and knew me well personally). Both of them spoke to my growth as a person and in maturity as a result of having pursued a job rather than filler classes, and the initiative i showed in going out and getting that job. They told a very clear story that was the essence of my "pitch".

Submitting 3 teacher recs that say the same thing, however, would look kinda lame.

If i remember correctly, I also submitted three recommendations because in SEAS they ask for a rec from a math teacher and mine was a very antisocial individual whose rec just said something along the lines of "this class is very hard, he did very well" and I thought that just didnt help me at all, so I decided to follow the rules and ask him for one but I had two others that were strong in addition.

Is it supposed to be 2 recommendations including your advisor's, or 2 recommendations exclusively from other teachers. My advisor happens to be my Chinese teacher for 4 years, so he would be the best recommendation. I'm applying to SEAS....so would I be required to get only one more rec from a math teacher?
