Columbia SciencesPo. Dual Degree Fall 2014

interviews were late feb/early march for all around last year I believe.

Final decisions are usually late march (28/29/30/31)

so, I did an online g-chat with the admissions director and she tolf me a few things:
average SAT: 2190
average ACT: 32
Most accepted are from private schools.
Extremely high average GPA (weighted are mostly over a 4.0)
There is no quota for which campus, so that does’t impact your decision at all.

Did anyone get an e-mail about interview??

just got an interview email today. did you or anyone else?

I got one! So, what necessairly does this mean?

Hi everyone! My name is Tine and I am a tour guide for the Columbia- Sciences Po Dual BA. I went to the Le Havre campus and am currently completing my last semester at Columbia.
Congratulations to all of those who were invited for interviews. This means that you got through the first step of admission with the second step being the interview. It is more than just a formality so I would suggest that you prepare and show them your best selves
Good luck with interviews and let me know if I can be of further assistance!

Congrats guys & gals!

I went through the interview process on a Tuesday and heard back that Friday! Please let me know if you have any questions about the interview process as every interview and situation is unique.

-JNC

Hello JNC!

I received an interview request as well – I am really thrilled.

When you said you went through the interview process and heard back within a few days, do you mean you learned of your admissions decision? Or will all of the decisions be sent at the same time as indicated by the website?

In regards to the interview itself-- did you participate through Skype/a phone call or in person in New York? What was the format of the interview? I have heard it’s mostly informational in years passed, but I am not sure if this is still the case.

Lots of questions, hopefully not too many! :)

Thanks!

@sarasmith and augustsnowstorm, which campuses did you guys apply to?

And also, I’d really like to know the format of the interview as well! I think it’s probably informational since it’s only 30 minutes, but who knows!

I applied to Menton. You? Are we pretty set in stone with the campus choices we put on the app? I don’t foresee that I’ll want to change my first choice, but I am wondering if switching is still a possibility at this point.

Does anyone know if an email will also be sent to notify those who don’t get an interview?

Yes, usually those who did not get an interview will also get an email.

Does anyone know what kind of questions is the admissions committee going to ask? I’m so nervous about the interview.

I’m also curious about what augustsnowstorm was wondering. Are admitted students given the option to change their campus choices?

Augustsnowstorm,

Congrats once again on the interview.

I did make a mistake earlier when commenting about my interview. I was speaking specifically about the non-dual degree program.

Tine is our go-to person about SciencesPo/Columbia and I am sure she will be happy to answer all your questions.

Best of luck in the process once again!

Ah, thank you for clearing that up!

Regardless, congrats everyone! This is all very exciting

If anyone has more info about the interview, please share!

i don’t think you can change your campus choice once it is made. however there was an option for a second campus choice, so maybe you could bring that up? although each campus is pretty specific, and the whole point of the program is to find people who are dedicated to the relationship (euro-american, eurasian, or middle eastern) for each campus.

how exactly is everyone preparing for the interview?

Hi everyone. Let me answer the two questions that people are asking right now as someone, who has gone through the interview process and has some inside information.

In the interview process they really try to get to know you so they ask a lot of questions about your application. The essays you wrote are really important. So in preparation for the interview it is probably a good idea to go over everything you have handed in again.

About changing campuses. As SickofApps pointed out the campuses are specialized and in your application you should have talked about why you are interested in that focus region. So it might be very hard for you to justify that change of campus while keeping them convinced that you are dedicated to and genuinely interest in the program. If you do want to change campus though you should probably let them know as soon as possible and with a good reason for why you are a better fit at the other campus.

Good luck and let me know if I can assist any further!

So is it bad news if I haven’t recieved an interview request yet?

Ah okay great. As I said, I don’t foresee a desire to change, but it’s good to know nonetheless!

Sickofapps–
To prep for the interview: I’m probably going to read over my essays again (especially the general ‘why do you want to participate in this program’ one) to make sure I stay consistent in my interview/see if I didn’t mention anything in the composition that I might want to bring up! I am also in the process of making a list of some questions I have about the program.
