Columbia SEAS Open House

Anyone going to the admitted students' open house on April 10th at the Davis Auditorium? I got an invitation to it in the mail but the link for RSVP does not work, was wondering if anyone else has a working link that they could share.

Also, if you are going, where are you staying/what are some cheap lodging options?

i've stayed at a hostel near W 79th St for about $80 a night, though there are other (possibly cheaper) ones in the city. do you have friends in the city to crash with? apart from hostels, there's not much else in the way of cheap places.

but when you decide on a few choices, feel free to PM me (i go to columbia now, albeit a different department) and i'll try to make sure that you don't end up in the middle of long island or something. :)

Why is it so late in the process? Columbia was slow in getting out their admissions/funding decision also although I was happy when I did finally receive it. I think most of the people who go to the open house must have committed to columbia.

astrina: i know folks in the area, but not in the city specifically (more around boston, jersey, etc). thanks for the offer to help.

blah: yea, i juuust received the letter last friday, and the deadline to commit is 4/15, which is cutting it pretty damn close. did you get an invitation to the event? are you going (although I don't think you need to commit to go)? if so, do you have a working link?

Gimp: What program did you apply for, and what day did you submit your application/have it go under review?

I applied for Columbia Biomedical engineering for MS only (very very late). I submitted my application Feb 14, the day before it was due, and they sent me an email saying it went under review on March 3rd. Just wondering how long it took you from the time you got the email saying it went under review to the time you got your decision. Thanks

i applied for MS in chem engineering. the application was submitted on dec 1, but i only got an email saying it was under review on Feb 18, so I guess it took them ~1 month for the review. yours should be coming soon. they only send paper mail for decisions i think, though their fedex took only a day to arrive (i live in california).

yea....their link:
<a href="http://www.college.columbia.edu/calendar3/priv/rsvp/rsvp.php?eventid=7305&headerfile=&footerfile=%5B/url%5D">http://www.college.columbia.edu/calendar3/priv/rsvp/rsvp.php?eventid=7305&headerfile=&footerfile=</a></p>

doesn't work.

I was a MS/PhD applicant and also applied before December 1. Told it was under review around January 5th and didn't get a decision until March 5th or so. Kind of ridiculous..=). Not sure if I will be going to the open house as I've more or less decided on a school, but maybe.

After tweaking around with the link, here is the correct address:

:: Columbia College Information Technology ::

Was the letter sent via USPS or another service? I still haven't received my letter yet and I've been admitted on the website since 2/28! :(

mine was sent fedex a little while back. If you're in then you're in. I'd worry about housing and other logistics at this point.

I'm worried about funding, since I've yet had any contact regarding that. Was there a funding offer in your postal package? Or were you contacted separately for that?

What programs did you guys all apply for at Columbia? I got accepted in CS for masters thru email, but have not received any mailing from them since 3/10. How come I did not get any invitation to this OPEN HOUSE?
