Hey so when is Columbia sending out the acceptance letters for transfer students. They said anywhere from May 1 - May 14. Its already May 5.

Did you guys register for other classes if you dont get in…
and do you think I have a shot in getting in to the engineering program:
I am in NYU Poly - Engineering school
First Year Student have 14 graded credits for a 3.9
Took courses at Brooklyn College Have a 4.0 - like 13 credits
2 ap course but fours on both of them

^Iwing35 I know right the wait is terrible. According to last year’s thread decisions came out on the 8th. I think. But more on Columbia and less on gossip girls please.

Ohhhh, the 8th! That’s not too far away! =] I think I’m going to tell myself the 14th and let it be a surprise. What major are you guys in for? Transferring from?

they come out the fifteenth online

they won’t come out the 15th as it’s a saturday. the most likely date is may 14th, but it may be earlier. (information from calling/emailing the admissions office)

k thats just whatt the admission lady told me

if i got in, i would frame the letter, regardless of whether or not i get the money to attend. i still have my columbia decision letters from last year…

Please do not pay too much attention to this because I think it is total BS, but a kid at my school told me that a fried of his has been celebrating his transfer admission to Columbia since Monday. What he said is that his friend called and the gave him the answer over the phone. I don’t buy it, I hate when people say stupid stuff like that and get me all anxious about it. Has anyone heard stupid stories like that?

I called and tried to get my answer and they wanted me to email someone to request an early decision and said that its rarely granted…

i call BS on that, one of my friends at columbia works as an assistant in admissions and nothing’s been released yet according to her

I call BS as well.
I just got a negative answer from NYU… Kinda makes my doubt Columbia but you never know.
Anyway, I am sure someone was blowing smoke up someones behind in regards to what i posted before.

@Athletics, I emailed that person asking for a decision (needed to put/not put down other deposits) got a polite ‘Hells no, stop trying to find out earlier’. Haha

Also, anyone look at the forum from last year? They basically found out today…not saying that that means anything, but I sure hope it ends up being the same this year!

hey is there any way i can send my midterm grades to columbia? There’s no form and i know it’s kinda late, but i faxed in my grades really late and got a decision the 2-3 days later for cornell and uchicago. i have the grades on the common app midterm form. oh w/e i’ll just fax them in!

I have a question to anyone here that took the GED.
I was not able to have my GED certificate sent to Columbia. I spoke to an advisor in another school before applying and he said I should send it so they will be able to better apprise me. As I said, I was not able to contact the GED people. Did anyone else submit GED certificate? or did anyone else encountered an issue like mine?

Is anyone else as wildly optimistic as me in hoping that we hear in the next 10 minutes (as decisions were posted last year on the first Friday in May at 6pm EST)??

@kagemusha i was! but apparently it wasn’t meant to be today :-(

when i log onto my application, i no longer have the option to look at part 2. is this the same for everyone else?

Oh my god!
I didnt think Columbia needed my GED report so I didnt send it. I suddenly got concerned today so I emailed admission. I was told that I order to apply as a transfer I need the GED report. I asked if I can fax it so they said that I can fax it any time before March 11 for Fall 11 admission. WHAT? I applied for this fall!!! So I emailed asking if my application that I was told was complete was not so and hence VOID. I got an email back saying “you will find out with everyone else on the 14th” ***? thats not an answer! If I needed the GED, why was I told when I called that my app was complete? I know that still doesn’t mean that I have no chance, but this is crap!

sanders6209, yup.
