I didn’t have an interview
It came in the evening but I had fallen asleep. i randomly woke up (its like 2am here) and then I saw it.
Congrats everyone! Did you guys get it through mail or email?
All likely letter recipients, kindly post your stats to help each of us as well. If you’ve already posted them elsewhere, please share the link. Thankyou guyss!
Got a likely letter today as well!!
@Palak786
SAT: 1570
SAT II: Math 2 - 800, Chemistry - 780
(I am an international applicant btw)
IGCSE/GCSEs: 11As 1A
A Level Predictions: AAAA* (Economics, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths)
Idk if my GCSEs/ALs mean anything to most people? I can explain them if you want.
Omg I also got a Likely Letter!
I honestly didn’t expect it. I’m an international student and asking for a lot of aid!?
@Afrikal Hi I am also an international student asking for a lot of aid! I assumed a rejection but I’m guessing they must be pretty generous.
I thought likely letters were for athletes, STEM majors or, like, nationally ranked mathematicians or something. Happy that (relatively) average applicants get them too!
@ammielove Congrats! Are you from London?
@londondad yeah! and thanks
@ammielove Congratulations! And with those stats you are not such an average applicant:) My child also got a LL today, international applicant to CC, not athlete or URM. So happy!
Got a likely letter last night!
White male from Westchester, NY (no legacy)
SAT: 1530
SATII: 790 in World History (took literature but bombed it so didn’t send in)
GPA: Not sure on 4.0 but ~99 weighted (went down to 94ish unweighted first quarter this year, including an 88 in history, my best class/intended major)
Majors: English and History (I think I listed Comparative Lit & Caribbean Studies on my app)
ECs: intern at a revolutionary bookstore, intern at the New-York Historical Society, volunteer at a local art museum, school newspaper, president of Latin Club, French classes, etc. (note: I’ve only been involved in a few activities consistently since freshman year. I started many of them the summer after junior year and just really committed to them the past few months!!)
Essays/supplements: VERY make-or-break. I took big risks since I want to be a writer and they paid off, but I think they were definitely unique and memorable.
Recommendations: Didn’t read them, but I’m very close with the two teachers who wrote them, and my counselor recc was probably good too
Applied for financial aid
Hooks: being gay, possibly (mentioned in essay)? working at a Communist bookstore? Also, my interview went AMAZING (my interviewer saw my poetry portfolio and said it moved him to tears and that I would thrive at Columbia), which may have been a huge advantage
Courseload: not the most rigorous at my school (we are an IB diploma school), but I took 3 HL and 3 SL IB classes the last 2 years
Rank: school doesn’t rank, but probably top 5% (not the very top though)
