@gunkers I honestly wouldn’t look too much into it, just because so many people have been contacted by financial aid offices and ended up getting rejected - you never know, all you can really do is hope for the best, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high just in case. good luck (:
@alexa2143 Thanks! Best of lucks to you too!
Just received email from Columbia about decision time - just about threw up from nerves when I saw that in my inbox lol
@valodik yep, just got one a few minutes ago
@collegedream2017 ugh same, just got such a pit in my stomach
Dear xxx,
Thank you for your first-year application to Columbia University. We are nearing the end of our application review and will soon notify candidates of our decisions.
The Columbia community is committed to environmental responsibility; in keeping with this commitment, we will provide some admissions decisions only online, not via regular mail. You may request that a copy of your decision letter be mailed to you after you receive it online; further instructions will be available when you check your decision. We plan to post all decisions online on Thursday, March 30, 2017, after 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).
Oh, man. Time to die
Ugh. Sends my heart racing every time… And yeah, I knew it’d be going up then. Thanks.
I’m not ready for Ivy Day next week…
I feel like I’ll end up silently dying as I hear a classmate scream out of excitement at 2pm PST
My friend is recieving mails from Columbia about Summer School and stuff while I haven’t recieved any such mail. Does this signify anything?
@agarwalmridul09 no, it means nothing.
So the decisions release notification email says that they will be releasing decisions AFTER 5 p.m. EST. Does this mean they will release at exactly 5 p.m. or at some random time after 5?
It’s at 5 PM, but it shouldn’t even matter if you applied to more than one Ivy. Open one, cry over it (joy or sadness), and open the next one in 5 minutes.
Based upon past years, you should assume that the volume of people checking will cause one or more college’s website to go down. So you will find out on 3/30, but I would not count on exactly 5:00. Good luck.
@hhjjlala Why wait 5 minutes though? I’d much rather be disappointed to death in 1 minute than be tortured in 30.
You really can’t assume anything. It could mean something or it could mean nothing. You’re left with the same uncertainty. So go have fun. It won’t be long and we will know for sure.
I don’t have the “documents” bar in my financial aid profile, although I submitted CSS Profile and mailed tax returns. Does anybody have any info on this?
Kind of random, but my first PSAT was in 7th grade, and then I skipped 8th grade. I obviously updated my graduation year on future testing, but I believe Columbia has me as a junior in their recruitment system because I still get emails for high school programs from them. Do you think this could be an indication of my decision? Thanks!
@2021college2017 The fact that you get emails for high school programs has no correlation. Those are sent out independently and you’ll probably end up receiving those for the next several years, simply because they have your name in their database from the College Board when you took the SAT/PSAT
@masquerade98 that’s what I figured, thanks for quelling my worries!
Why does the decision release notification email say ‘some decisions will be posted online only’? Will they not post them ALL online?? Thanks.
